Bushing sizes for 308 WIN for Winchester and/or Lapua brass?

I'm going to get a set of Redding type S dies for my 308 and I have some new Winchester brass and will probably end up with some Lapua brass as well. What bushing sizes would be recommended for these 2 brands of brass? What have you guys used with success? Will be used in a factory Savage 10 barrel. Thanks.

i turn my 308 lapua brass to .014 thickness and use a .334 bushing most of my brass unturned was .015 -.014 for the most part i just cleaned them up.

Lapua is certainly good brass but I haven't run into any for my .308 that didn't benefit from a slight "truing" of neck thickness. I now run an expander through the neck of all new brass, load and fire, then FL size (with die adjusted for 0 shoulder bump). Then I turn necks to .014 and use the same .334 bushing. When I turned unfired cases, even after using an expander mandrel, the neck's didn't turn to even thickness from mouth to shoulder junction. Fire-forming first does a better job, at least in my case.

yes i agree first thing i do is fl resize then trim all to 2.005 and uniform the primer pockets . after the first firing i turn the necks i also anneal after the 5th firing

Can't go wrong with three bushings for 308 - .338, .337, .336. Buy the coated ones if you're in it for the long haul.

Recommend researching this site before assuming brass should be trimmed to 2.005, especially a bolt gun. Sinclair just got their measuring tool back in stock for 30 cal this week. Good timing.

Definitely need to use the expander first run in new brass. Get a sized ball for afterwards. Definitely bump the shoulder - .001 is the target.

Not sold on need to trim.

First time through with new dies it's a good idea to seat a bullet early and check that it chambers.
