Burris xtr ii 5x25x50

Anyone have any feedback on the Burris XTR II 5x25x50 scope in terms of glass quality and tracking? Researching scopes for a PRS style rifle and would welcome any feedback good or bad.

Thanks,

Jason

A couple months ago I asked a guy at a match how he liked his, and he said fine so far. Last weekend he discovered tracking problems. Any scope can fail, just some do it more than others.

I saw a couple guys shooting them at a steel match over the weekend and I didn't get an opportunity to ask what they thought about them. You can pick one up for less than most 34mm tactical scopes, which I know is all relative. Was just curious.

Thanks!

Have you had an opportunity to run the tracking up and down yet? Glass clarity?

Thanks,

Jason
Not yet just got my 100 yard zero for the load I am going to shoot 600 with, Glass is good, I am fairly new to this game but learning, hope this helps.

I haven't used that model, mainly tactical stuff in the XTR line but what I can tell you from my experience with the XTR's is very good glass and no issues for me with holding zero/tracking. Burris has always had decent scopes but it seems like they have stepped up their game on this line. Even their lower cost tac scopes have very nice glass compared to a few years ago. Another scope to look at is the newer line of Leicas, exceptionally clear glass. They may be more limited on features that the XTR will have though. There are better scopes but the XTR is a lot of scope for the $$.

My apologies for the delayed reply, I've been on the road with work. Thanks for the response Larry. Seems like a pretty good scope for the coin.

I have a 4-20x50 XTR lol mounted on a custom 6.5 Creedmoor and I am very impressed with it. It is the MOA model and the reticle seems to be spot-on with my ballistics chart. I have tested it out to 900 yards and it tracks right. I am building a 6mm Creedmoor and I plan on putting one on it.
Hope this helps.

I have the 5-25x50 in MOA. Its got a lot of features for the price. 25 MOA in a single revolution, zero stop, illum. It tracks like two micrometers. But the glass in my opinion is a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong the glass will not hold you back but maybe something got to give a little bit for the price point. YMMV.

I, too have recently picked up one of the 4-20x50 XTR2, MOA, SCR. Sorry to say, I've not had the chance to shoot it all that much as of yet. Right now it's on my Remington 700-5R, 308. My first impressions are a bit mixed. It seems to be built very well (think Nightforce NXS). Turrets seem good, eye piece focus is nice. I'm liking the SCR reticle. Overall, kinda reminds me of my NXS (NF). But, I have to agree with some, that the glass could be better.... It seems a bit cloudy @ 20x. Not horrible! And the eye box seems a bit tight on high power. They are a $1k scope, so we can't have it all for that price!!!! If I get more time behind mine, & it doesn't disappoint too badly, I could see myself getting another, possibly the 5-25x50 scr moa model. Idaho-45

I have had an xtr 11 in5x25 and mildot for several years and thousands of rounds. I like it. The glass is Steiner glass ,just assembled in the Phillipines. There are a few things they could have improved on like a parallax that not only can be used in under 50 yards but also corresponds to longer distances. And the reticle at full power is big but I really like ffp and won't go back. I don't regret buying it and Burris still has an extraordinary warranty
