Burris Signature Zee Rings for Kimber 82G

I have seen some info but not very much on mounting the signature rings on a rimfire. Will a regular base have to be installed or do they make these insert style rings for rimfire? If so where would I start looking. I ask because I run out of elevation on my scope on my rimfire and have just been holding over with a target dot. :P

I use the BKL drop compensated cantilever mount on my Kimber 82g. I have been extremely pleased with its performance!

I checked them out and it looks exactly what I am looking for. I am wondering how they put the 7 degrees into the sytem. Is it machined into the base or is it added mechanicaly?

Any Weaver style mount works with the Burris Zee Rings. They have so;ved my problems on several rifles now and I am sold on them. Tom

I just dont wish to drill and tap the receiver to mount weaver bases. It is bone stock rimfire from CMP cept for barrel threading for sound device. I shoot in city limits some times and wish to not attract attention.

Minesweeper, the Brownell's catalog does list Signature Posalign tip-off rings for rimfire / airgun dovetails.

I came to the same conclusion as Bullseyetom. I use them on everything I can.

Minesweeper, you have a P/M

I'm pretty sure Burris does make RF specific Signature rings, do you intend to mount these on scope blocks? If so there seems to be variables on different manufacturer's Rimfire rings, some fit well on the scope blocks and some are very loose.

Burris makes the rings. The problem is that top of the receiver on Kimber is curved and as a result they do not fit quite straight, resulting in a deviation that is quite hard to correct. I was able to fit them, but the scope's windage correction is maxed out.

The diameter of the Kimber receiver and the positioning of the grooves cut in the receiver for the scope rings does not allow for the Burris rings to be mounted fully without modification.

The rings require a bit of machining to relieve metal from them to allow them to fully seat on the receiver. The machining is not a difficult process, but it does need to be done and I suppose it could be done with a round file by hand if the rings could be placed in a vise. We have used a milling machine and it takes one pass with a small ball end mill.

Good to know this ahead of time. I'm considering scoping mine just so I can find out how good it really is. I'm not cuttin' it with the irons.

I'm with Travelor, I'll bet the bottom flat of the rings could be carefully filed in a vise to clear the curvature of the top of the receiver. Solyanik, give it a try. That has to be an irritating loose end.

I used a B-Sguare 3/8 adapter sold by Brownells on my Kimber 82G and Burris Signature rings with the 20 inserts. I now can shoot past 200 without running out of scope adjustment. The adapter is 3/8 but works fine in the dovetail on the Kimber - just tighten it down and install the rings. I used the medium rings and mounted a Nikon 6 x 18 with 40 mm objective - fits and works perfect.

Go to Rimfirecentral.com and among the sponsors you will see a company called DIP. You might want to look at the 11mm (I believe) bases for CZ rifles that we are using on our 82G's. If I'm incorrect & you need 3/8" he's got them & can answer all your questions-great guy to deal with. Has tapered or non-tapered bases.

I have a DIP base mounted on my 82G. It fits as advertised; however I recommend that you order a base that has 15-25 Min elevation. My scope, which admitedlt doesn't have a lot of windage or elevation, ran out of elevation with still shooting 3-4" low at 50 yds. A second problem which is not serious, is that the screws used to tighten down the base mars the receiver.

I have since ordered the Egw 20 moa cantelever base which I have not mounted yet, but I have been assured will fir the 82G.

Hope this helps with your choice.

Happy Shooting

Before I decided to shoot my 82G with iron sights only, I used a +20 MOA Picatinny rail by EGW. Their website shows it for a Winchester 52, but it is a perfect fit on the Kimber. This is a bridge-type rail that screws into the rear scope block holes. EGW makes it in +20, -20 and zero comp. variations, if I remember correctly. With this, the Burris Signature Zee rings are a perfect fit. It's the neatest installation on an 82G I've ever seen.
