Burris Signature Rings?

Anybody using the Burris Siganture Rings with the eccentric inserts? I have a set on a Remington 541T 22 lr and really like them. I had thought about using them on a 308 Varmint with a big scope but read somewhere that they don't hold the scope firmly enough and can allow the scope to shift around under recoil and use. Any experience with this?

I use them in my 308, and all other chamberings with less recoil as well, and have never had a problem. In some cases just an old wives tale from someone who does not like them, probably never even tried them, but can tell you all about them. The only rings I have used since they became available.

Use them on 243, 6brx striker and 7WSM. No problems.used them on a ml-iivand think they might have movd some.

Clean the shipping oil off the inserts and torque them to the correct specs and they will never slip.....

Preacher man knows!! I listened to him on same subject about three yrs ago, just ordered my 3rd set of Signature Zee Rings. Love em! NO THEY DO NOT MOVE!

When properly cleaned of the protective oil from the package, they will not slip due to recoil. With a mechanically centered scope (like when new from the factory), we can correct most error to get zeroed at 100yds, without having to use up precious elevation or windage by the mere use of the inserts. In some applications, it can eliminate the need for canted scope bases to get out to extended distances.

We better stop telling everybody how great the Signature rings are. Everybody is buying them now and Burris cannot keep up with the demand. They are on back-order everywhere.

TO LATE...6 different sites NA... BO finally decided on opticsplanet.com and a day later after order was confirmed "We are sorry BO 5-10 days" we will see. Seriously I ordered my first sets of x-high after some great info from a friend and the guys out here. Still like the XTR's for field guns tho...seem tuff enough so far ! Just not as kind to those expensive optics.

5-10 days may be optimistic. I talked with a Burris rep because I couldn't find them anywhere.
He said they moved the mfg. facility and didn't expect to be in production until Jan. But, who knows? They may have gotten up to speed faster than expected.

I use the Signature double dovetail on my Savage smokeless MLII. This gun has serious recoil and with over a hundred rounds through no POI changes.

it may not have been the rings on my ml. but something was moving. all good now. and yes i clean all the stuff off the rings and inserts before use

I just bought a set from the Big Supply Shop - Signature Zee, 1" high in nickel (which may be why they had them) for a great price.

They are the best long range set up going,and they don't mark your scope. The only weak part of the ring is the cross bolt, it will strip if over tighten it and with big heavy scopes it will happen. I change out the screw with a 10-32 cap screw drill the holes to tap size and then ream a clearance hole in one side and that will guide the tap. Get longer cap screws so when you cut them off they only have threads at the end. That way no threads will bear against your rail....jim

What do you suggest for cleaning the inserts, Scott? Isopropyl alcohol OK, or would you go for something stronger?

I use alcohol to clean mine. They work on my wife's 7mm with some powdered rosin added. I tried everything in the book to get my 4200 stable on my 338 edge and they just could not do it. But there not the only ones as I think I have a reverse recoil impulse on this rifle.

No solvents needed to remove the protective oil. I use plain `ol paper towels on the rings and the inserts to get it all off. It takes but a few minutes to do so.

I used to use a 30-06 for 1K and 190gr SMK`s with a snootful of RL22 and the rings never moved.
