Burris Signature ring problem

I have a set of rings that has been previously mounted
and removed. Problem is: they will not slide back on a base
w/o force. It as if there is no spring back in the metal.
If you have had this problem, how did you spread the opening??

Larry, if you have an old base that you can beg to go into;) the ring, put it in and put the screws in backward, so the tip of the screw pushes against the base. The idea being to slightly spread the two apart until they will slide freely over your new base(s)

Are you trying to put the Burris rings on the same bases they were previously on or a different set of bases? I have had similar problem putting Burris Signature Zee rings on some Weaver bases. My problem was variation in the Weaver bases. Switched to Burris bases; no more problems.

Its the same brand of base that was previously used,
but this one is new.
I have another new rail, same brand and the rings wont slide on it either.

I too use the screwdriver method, the material will fail after many openings. I'll bet Burris will replace them if it actually breaks.

Larry I have used the flat screw driver method before. Works fine. Next time I may try the other method with reversing the screws. Thank Mike Ezelle for the idea
