Burris 30mm ZEE rings/ offset inserts?

I posted this question on the main board also... Anybody know where I can get offset inserts for 30mm Burris rings? I ordered a set of 30mm rings and a set of inserts from Brownell's, only to be sent 1" inserts, they don't stock 30mm inserts!? Same thing w/ Midway USA. Thanx and GOD bless our troops!

The 30mm rings come with the offset inserts (+/- .010) in the package and I don't think they are available seperately.

Bought the Burris 30mm Z-rings for my Bushnell 4200 Tactical mounted on a 6AI for F Class. Came with the .010 offsets.

Was surprised to find that the other offsets available in one inch are not available in 30mm.

Has not been a handicap in warm weather. Can go from 300 to 1000 yards with the .010 offset but am right at the top of the vertical turret for 1000 yards.

Had a 1000 yd practise in early May where it snowed (love that Canadian Spring!) and I ran out of "up" due to velocity loss. Had to hold at 12 o`clock on the DCRA 5 ring.

Would be nice to have the flexibility of the one inch offsets.

I spoke with Burris about the 30mm offsets and they only furnish the +/- 10 with the rings, and the -0s-.They said the 30mm tubes didn't need the 20s,as the 1" ,because the 30mm tube gives enough MOA adjustment.

I set mine on 20 min rail and now i have the capability of 0,10,20, 30 and 40 with the +or- 10 inserts it covers everything.....jim

When you refer to a 20 min rail, does this mean that the rail is actually angled relative to the bore of the gun, so that 20 min of elevation is achieved? Or does this mean simply that it simply mounts the scope high?

Thanks,

Randy

The +10 insert is the thin one and goes at the bottom front while the thicker -10 insert goes at the bottom rear.

This is exactly the way I had it set up but still not enough "up" in cold weather.

Soooooooo, I just finished shimming the rear insert enough to give me a full rotation down in the elevation knob on the 4200. There is just barely enough room under the objective bell for the lens cap to fit on.

Have a 1000 yard F Class practise this Saturday to get my new elevation setting.

I have been eyeballing the 30 mm inserts for thin and thick. The +10 are definitely thinner than the -10 in my set.

After reading the above, took the scope rings apart and measured the inserts with a digital caliper. The +10 are .095, the -10 are .115.

So it would appear my 30mm inserts are labelled backwards.

Yes, the thicker is the +, thinner - if they are not they are mismarked. I measured a couple just now from the 1" Gunsmith kit I bought when they first came out the +.005 meas..135 the -.125 the +.010 meas .140 the -.120. I have both the 30mms but I didn't want to dismount any scopes to measure.

gunamonth, thanks for your info.

I measured my set of Burris one inch inserts and they all appear to be correct.

Took the 6AI out to my club`s 300 metre bench range today and put five 107 SMKs into 2 1/8 at 300 (0.6 moa). Nasty little windshift moved one. If I had caught it would have been below 0.5 moa.

Anyway, have a new 300 zero with the shimmed inserts. This Saturday will crank 21 minutes up and be on the paper at 1000. Plenty of room now above the 1000 zero in the 30 mm tube.

My distributor only lists accessorie inserts for the 1 inch. I have run shim under them and on the non clamp side to move the point of impact around on a skewed ruger reciever and on an AR-15 type rifle with out spending a dime, just glue your shim in with super glue after you find what works. It becomes a permanant fix.

Shot a 1000 yard F Class practise Saturday using the shimmed Burris 30mm inserts holding the Bushnell 4200 Tactical on my 6AI.

Had a 300 zero so was confident that 21 minutes of up would put me on the paper at 1000. Was rainy and foggy. The target was a misty blob out there amongst the deer and turkeys. Some of the Palma guys couldn`t get the right aperture combo and didn`t shoot. The F Class guys decided to use the Palma face with its one minute V-ring because of the tough conditions.

First sighter a touch low and right. Second sighter dead centre. Then fired ten shots and scored a 50-4V at 1000 on the DCRA 5 ring target. Used the largest possible shot marker on the target and could barely make it out through the 4200.

Now have one full rotation on the vertical knob above the 1000 zero so will be on the target during a snowy Spring day.

1000yardstare..The Burris offset inserts +/- go in the same ring. It sounds like you are trying to split up the set. To push the scope tube in the downward direction (for more elevation) place the + 1/2 insert on top of the front ring and the -1/2 insert on the bottom in the front ring. If you wish to place these offset inserts in the rear ring they would have to be reversed in order to aim the scope tube down. The +/- pair of offset inserts have to work together in the same ring. Hope this makes sense.
