Burris 3-12 pistol scope

Hi I am getting a little bolt action pistol in 22 mag and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Burris 3-12 Handgun scope? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks Jake

The 3x12 Burris is the best pistol scope ever built....
I have owned and still own them, so this is not a arm chair thing !!!!

I second what Preacher says. I too have owned Leupold, and Burris pistol scopes. They were fine scopes, but not in the same league as the 3-12 Burris. I still have mine.

I have two Annie bolt handguns, one in 17HMR and one in .22. I tried the Leupold 2-8, the Burris 3-12 handgun scopes and for my eyes wearing eyeglasses, they were non starters, the eye relief off the bench was too long. At the highest powers, I'd be bobbing my head all over the place trying to get a sight picture. On top of that, the Leupold has a parallax set at 75 yds. Good luck at 50, it's a blur. I went with the Burris 4.5-14 Timberline with the ballistic reticle. Admittedly, I am now shooting it like a rifle but that is what works for me.
Having said all that, for high recoil handguns, the long eye relief probably works better but if you are shooting at ranges under 75 yds, the Burris with AO would be my choice.

Have used the Burris 3-12x on specialty pistol for a long time, but there's one problem with them--it's an LER (long) and not an IER (intermediate). It's really no problem on a rear grip pistol but a center grip off a Harris bipod prone in the field is hard to stretch into.

I'm not implying that it doesn't happen with other manufactures, but I had a lemon. I had purchased one for my T/C pistol. The elevation turret was not crisp and the zoom collar piece was actually not perpendicular to the tube. It was clearly offset and felt slightly stripped. It never should have passed their QC dept. I sent it back for a full refund, and I did not seek a replacement. I've had positive experiences with their rifle scopes prior to the pistol scope purchase, so I'm not bashing Burris...just sharing an experience.

Have had probably 10 handgun scopes, mostly Leupold 2.5x8 and Burris 3x12, and the Big Burris is my favorite. Currently have two.

What everyone else said about the 3x12 Burris. I HAD one and got rid of it with the Encore. Have bought another Encore and am looking for another 3x12. I had it on a .223 and it was awesome. Currently have a 2x7 but want more power. Great Scopes...

I had a 3x12 Burris on a Freedom Arms 454 Casull and it was a great scope. Most accurate handgun I have ever owned in a big bore and made like a Swiss watch. Recoil was too much for me after a torn rotator cuff so I had to sell the pistol, still own the scope.

I had a 3-12x burris on an xp-100. for me personally, with a 22./22.mag. I would use a rifle scope, but if you are shooting standing, that wouldnt work. I shoot rifles quite a bit, and i had a hard time using the pistol scope, and i couldnt get a good sight picture with my arms extended. But as i stated before, i am not a big pistol shooter. The scope was clear, and well made. Good luck.
