Bumps Causing Classifieds to Lose Usefulness?

As an occasional classified user (and bumper), it seems that with more members comes more ads. A listing that starts at the top can get buried 4 or 5 pages down in no time, hence the bump.

Good day,

Are the For Sale post owners causing the classifieds to be less useful than previously? Trying to find new ads, but most of the ads in the rifles and the components sections are bumps by the ads original poster. Filters don't provide a good way to sort out the bumps.

Ya I agree, I just give up looking for new stuff or if I’m really looking I go to far and everything is sold and not labeled sold. But this is what happened to Craigslist and the thrift nickel before that.

Bumping doesn’t bug me unless it’s excessive. I’ll bump my own ads mostly because I can be impatient and will drop the price daily or every other day because I hate babysitting a for sale ad.

I do really like the fact that people can edit their ads in the classifieds. They can drop the price, ad trades, correctly faulty info, it’s a handy feature.

My only critique is that I wish people who list an item would mark it sold when it sells or if it’s a want to buy ad, update when you’ve found what your looking.
I’m done buying! Finished!
This made me chuckle. Hi, I’m Josh and I’m a gunoholic…….

It's the people who have 7 threads at once and bump them all. That's what's making it cumbersome. I would rather we have a limit on how many active Selling/ and Wanted/ threads for one person.
Maybe they got a lot of extra and trying to maintain 1 thread can be very confusing once it reaches 3 pages of I'll take its, PM sent, and marking shit sold...
Numerous threads can be easier to maintain for the seller to maintain providing they're maintained.
I know it was for me just recently.

Here’s a heads up, Parker. I don’t have time to shoot what I have accumulated. I’m done buying! Finished! They’re all yours! I’ll still look, tho. ;)
What irritates me is the guy that continues to bump an overpriced item, like a used barrel. I watched one get 50 bumps by the seller.
so youre going to have multiple stocks for each rifle as i know youre not quittting building them?? Im glad this bump thread came about to give everyone a little reminder. I do think being able to bump is a good thing. if it wasnt allowed people would just be deleting threads all the time and relisting them. just like anything else it gets abused by some. i really dont have a problem with the amount of bumping going on here- its easy to scroll by- i just keep an eye on the date on thread to decide when i will quit looking.

TTT's don't bother me. There are times I'll give a bump to
someone that has a smoking deal or a product that is simply
one of the best around and in stock. For instance.......

"Johnny Mayo Sail Tails"
BUMP

"Valleyboy's Bolt Holsters"
BUMP

I buy and sell quite a bit here for my personal use only. I have noticed that I get hit up by guys who lowball me who have zero posts other than in the classifieds. I will only give a smoking deal to shooter members and not traders, pawn shop guys ebayers or who ever they truly are. Many of these guys monitor the classifieds and snatch up good deals that should really go to real members imo.
If I ran this forum I would require access to the classifieds only if you are an active poster. My 2 cents.
