bumping shoulders back and fire forming

I am using 7wsm "new" brass for use in my 300WSM. I have pushed some of the shoulders back on them and it appears to leave a donut toward the bottom of the neck. The donut is not visible from the outside only the inside. Do you guys fire form after moving the shoulder back a considerable amount before you load for maximum accuracy? Thank you for any advice.

Why not use 300WSM brass in a 300WSM chamber? That way you only have to push the shoulders back the traditional .001" to .0015". Trying to stuff an over sized case into a smaller chamber leads to problems. Use 300WSM brass in a 300WSM chamber and life will be good. :)

If I encounter a ring on the inside I'll run and expander down the neck and bring it to the outside and turn it off the neck. It is a pain and I hope to not have to do it often but that is one way to combat the issue you are fighting.

this forum is not a good place/environment for discussing do-nuts. It always ends with wasted space used to post pictures of donuts and the forum no better off than it was the last time the donuts were posted.

You can't fully develop a load from cases that aren't yet formed by your chamber, and sized as you will. But you can do bullet seating testing while fire-forming new cases(~1/2gr under book max),, and then move on to the powder stage with stable brass.

Donuts were predictable here. If an actual issue you can ream them out, as it sounds like you're past turning. But if your seated bullet bearing is plenty away from donuts I wouldn't worry about it.
Maybe next time use 300wsm(if you can get it then).

Thanks gentlemen for the replies I only did 15 cases this way looks like Ill be doing some trading for the correct brass. I apologize for bringing up donuts, after a little research it seems to be a taboo subject...thanks again

Don't apologize for asking a question/trying to learn. Yes some topics have been beaten to death but not everybody has been on this forum as long as some. Welcome to the forum by the way!

Don't let anyone dissuade you. Donuts are not a taboo subject. In my case, they're a fact of life when necking up for the 6PPC and 30BR. And, some internal donuts need not be dealt with, as in the matter of the 6PPC. Ask away. A lot of us are willing to help whenever we can. :)

If you are using boat tailed bullets and bullet is not seated deep enough for the bullet surface to contact the donut I wouldn't worry about it
