Bullseye target cam or ATV ?

I have had both knees replaced in last 2 years. 58 years old. Knees Still hurt me. Cannot walk to check long range targets anymore. Don’t hunt to far from truck anymore.
I target shoot on some private land that is not my own land. out to 1000 yards. Cannot drive truck to check target. the big question..... Would I be better off buying the Bullseye 1000 yard target camera system for $600.00 or a $1200.00 trailer and $3000.00 USED ATV to drive out and check targets with ? Not sure I would use atv to hunt with anymore and lots of extra expense with atv and trailer. Your thoughts. Thanks. Marty

If you can drive your truck to the target no need for another vehicle. Do some research on target cameras before you buy.

IMO all the votes go to the camera. There's nothing more frustrating than driving out to the target to find

nothing.

Or to find two rounds on the target and you don't even know which ones.....

The instant feedback afforded by the camera is absolutely invaluable to me, in fact I don't enjoy shooting unassisted beyond 500yds period. Without target pullers or a spotter or a camera I won't even bother because I can't get a handle on anything. Of course if there's a gong out there I'll take a lash at it, spot my own bullet puffs and walk it in if need be, but for me, once I hit it it's over. Gongs aren't really "target shooting."

And I agree with sdean, make sure the camera is sufficient to your needs....

maybe this will get the ball rolling

I am getting ready to pull the trigger (every pun intended) on a target camera. The only one I have used was the Caldwell. In general, I am not high on their products, but the one I got to use at 1,000 yards worked perfectly.

Anyone want to list the plus's and minus's of which ones are out there, especially the price point differences?

Thanks, Bob

Have you tried it out to 1,000? My understanding is they have two models, one for longer distance then the other. The longer distance one I believe is in the $599 range, while I can get the Caldwell, which I know works at 1,000, for $317.00 delivered through Amazon.

I’m also 58. I got the original knees and can still walk....but....I don’t WANT to. 2 weeks ago I bought the Bullseye Long Range system, because that’s what was on sale at Midway. Due to rain I’ve only tried it once at 300, but it certainly allowed me to sit at the bench and view my .223 bullet holes better than my Burris sporting scope could show. This is only my opinion but the instructions (written and at their site) could be better. I found YouTube videos published by others to be much better for initial instruction.
For the sale price (well under $400) I think it’s the best way for me til something better comes along.

I use the Caldwell Camera at 600 yards frequently, and have used it at 1000 yards as well. No problem with the camera at either distance.

At the target: Camera and Trasmitter
At the firing line: Receiver and Tablet (or iPhone, etc.)

At 600 yards, my Tablet connects and receives from the Transmitter directly just fine, but I still connect it to the Receiver.
At 1000 yards, IIRC, the Tablet does need to connect to the Receiver, as is intended.

I’d get the electronic target that is about to be released from SMT or the shotmarker from the creator of the autotrickler.

If you are set on a camera system I’d get the Caldwell (more bang for your buck). To me the bullseye system is overpriced for what you get and for me it was not reliable at 1000 yards.

You need to specify what kinda target you are shooting at. Earlier the bullseye and perhaps others couldn't detect shots in the black on a bullseye target. Probably not a problem on a white faced target or shoot-n-c

Folks. Thanks for all the feedback. Driving truck to check targets are out. Well make ruts on property. Remember this not my land. Walking or ATV is all I can use. Keep the the reviews coming. Sounds like other there is better target cameras beside Bulleye 1000 yard target camera is out there ? Marty

Well Marty plan B. Sounds like you can't do without a 4wheeler. Best plan find a shooting buddy with a p/u and a 4wheeler and young. Next used smallish 4wheeler. Color your bullets for 5 shots. If that don't do then you need the camera too. If you are shooting same few guns at known distance you should have no problems getting on a 4 foot target. Or try like Preacher says and find a grandkid with a drone that wants to shoot. I personally have have an older Bullseyetarget cam with a directional antenna that always works. The blinking last shot sold it for me.

I have a Target Vision which shows bullet holes in the black. I haven't tried it at 1000 yds, only 600, but it is stated to have a range of one mile. It is more expensive, however.

Get the ATV or both. Sooner or later you are going to travel 1000 yards out, place the camera, 1000 yards back...shoot and then do it again to retrieve everything.

I have a Bullseye camera and dont know how I ever lived without it !!!.....there is no substitute for seeing your bullet strikes instantly ,,,,it makes any range like shooting at 100 yds with a good 36x or more,,scope and seeing the bullet holes instantly,,,it even marks a series of shots and then you can shoot more and tells the groups and ammo variations at a glance,,,I have used it out to 9/10s of a mile ,,,,Roger

I am leaning towards the camera. You guys that have one will it cover a piece of 4 ft by 4 foot piece of ply wood ? Maybe a 6 x 6 foot if I want to shoot 1500 yards. Not the nest shot will take a while for me to get good at shooting long distance just want to make sure it will cover a huge target at 1000 plus yards ? Marty
