Bullseye in Red Metal 8lb can

ok you ooollllldddder guys, ever see one of these, I have an 8lb can of bullseye that is a red metal can looks like an oil barrel.

think it is still good? smells ok, not brown. must be from the 60-70's at the latest.

I have one of those cans with unique in it and it is fine. No rust or discoloration or acidic smell you are good to go.
 
Wow, mine is in a cardboard drum... Must have been a few years later.

+1 if it smells ok and there is no rust you are generally good to go. I'm still using the exact same kind of container of powder that I got from my father-in-law who bought it new in the late 60s. Velocity is a bit lower than new powder (I did a chronograph comparison in my .45ACP).

Yes, I bought one sometime in the 1960s, I can not remember for sure if it was 8 lbs or 5 lbs but it was red as you describe. I loaded many pistol rounds out of it and at three grains per load 8 lbs goes a long way. I finally gave what was left to a young pistol shooter some time in the 1990s.
 
Yep! I have the Red Can and Red Cardboard both! Shot several hundred pounds of it in .38 Special over the years! Cans marked $1.25
