Bullets with Striations?

I had an idea to improve the B.C. of bullets. You have a. 22 cal bullet but it has grooves or striations running length ways from tail to nose.

To get a visual idea, Google bullet striations. Imagine that but with much deeper grooves. It would give the B.C. of a. 19 cal bullet. In theory?

These could be straight, or angled... in which case they would create spin.

Obviously you have to create a gas seal so it needs a shotgun style wad, behind the bullet.

Any thoughts? in terms of just how viable the concept is

The genesis of Hammer Bullets Absolute Hammer bullet was when they discovered a 6mm bullet fired from a barrel with a .236" bore had a lower BC than when the same bullet was fired from a barrel with a .237" bore.

I don't know about the striations, but I read an article years ago along a similar vein. It was in Precision Shooting, the article was about using the same process that is used to impact plate bullets with moly, only omit the moly. He used this as an example, golf balls have dimples on them to fly straighter and farther. The number of dimples is regulated by the PGA, increasing the number of dimples would cause the ball to fly farther creating the need to redesign golf courses, a very expensive endeavor. He surmised that running the bullets through an impact process like the moly coating process, would put little dimples on the bullets and do for these bullets what it does for golf balls. It makes the fly straighter and longer.
I don't know if it would actually work or not. I don't have access to anyplace to test that theory, but it sounds very plausible.

The purpose of barrel rifling is to create striations in the bullet and make them spin. It also controls the width, depth and angle of those striations.

A little backward thinking, there. The purpose of rifling is to “grip “ the bullet and cause it to spin down the barrel. When it leaves the barrel, it has “striations” from the rifling.
So....do the striations help? Do a study of the difference of 2 groove barrel vs 6 groove barrels?

If you put striations on a bullet in the manufacturing process, they will be overridden by the lands, grooves and twist and they will be the mirror image of the barrel as they swagged down the bore. They will also be the same size as the lands and grooves of the barrel
The rifling striations create the grip for the spin.

My understanding is with supersonic aerodynamics, frontal area (essentially bullet diameter) and trailing edge are more important than boundary layer stuff like striations. This is why smaller bullets and pointed bullets typically have a better BC and flat base bullets if damaged on the base will cause fliers more than damaged tips.

I can say with 110% honesty that the Aberdeen proving grounds has never sent me any bullets for testing that had striations or dimples.
