Bullets.....OSB.....fire?

We use this material on 2x2 and 3x4 ft. wood frame paper holders on our other ranges.

In 4x4 ft. size for these frames, the wind would push them out constantly. We are probably going to remove these five steel frames off this range. They are best for lower bullet speed handgun use. Currently they are on 50 yd. deep all purpose bays.

We have 14 of those frames donated from a local club that closed three years ago.

The club that bobm posts about is a big operation. 2000+ members with 9 ranges on 2600+ acres.

Annual costs just to keep the gate open goes into multiple 6 figures, so we are always looking for ways to try to save a few bucks on consumable stuff, like target frames.

We go through a bunch of the wood frame/coroplast targets. I’m not sure of the exact number, but I think we make a couple hundred a year of 2 different sizes. Attached is a pic of the 100 yard line on our Schuetzen range with the wood/corroplast targets. As Bob mentioned, wind is an issue on the eastern plains of CO. The empty frames you see in the pic had their corroplast blown out by wind last week with gusts hitting 60mph and sustained winds pushing 30.

We thought that the donated steel frames using OSB was a good idea when we got them, but it turns out that may not be the case.

Josh , isnt the adhesive used in OSB a fire retardant?
Some is, some isn’t. Most of it comes out of China and you can’t trust the Chinese manufacturers. They’ll use sub par materials any chance they get until they get caught. Back in the early days, it was made in Canada and (I think) the US.
I’ve bought and returned Chinese made birch plywood that delaminated while I was loading it in the van.
I lost a dog to poisoned Chinese dog food.
Chinese drill bits that you can bend into a pretzel.
The list is long…
