Bullet seating case neck depth

I recently purchased some different bullets that I usually load. After sorting by weight I checked to see what the case head to ogive length would be against the lands useing a case with a split neck. I notice that with these new bullets that only about .125 of the bearing surface is pushed into the case necks due to the throat of the chambering. Is that enough to safely load. My intention are to load 15 to 20 thousands off the lands.

Not for a gas gun.

You just have to test at the range. A heavy recoiling mag fed bolt rifle might upset the cartridges in the mag but not usually.

Take your calipers and bullet comparator to the range and find out. With 0.002" neck tension pull I think you'll be fine, unless shooting a rifle with more recoil than a 8 pound 300winmag.
