Bullet Ogive Measurement - does it matter?

I bought a bullet checker from Sinclair. I am shooting Sierra Gameking .338 215 grain SBT. I measured 10 and averaged them. Most of the bullets were off the average by less than .001 of an inch with one that was .0016 - Is it worth it to measure and sort for .001? How much will it improve my accuracy?

Thanks in advance for the newbie question.

Paul.

You shooting Br comps or some other type of long range comp? If you are then yes every little bit can matter. But if your just loading and shooting for fun or hunting no you dont need to take that extra time.

I agree. The only time you might see a difference is in long range benchrest. For conventional High Power XC or Long Range I don't think you will see the difference. If you were .005" off you would have an error of 5% for an ogive to base measurement of 1". Your velocities alone may vary 2-3%, wind changes MUCH more than that, etc..
Not really worth the time.

Exactly, so why not take one more thing out of the equation? Anything more than .002" gets sorted. I was averaging around .638 but the odd one would come in at .632 and .645, more than I would have liked came in off the average. Just my opinion of course.
