Is a 35X 45 Leupold Competion scope adequit to see 6mm bullet holes on paper at 500 yards? This would be used for ground-hog matches.,100, 300, 500 yards) All replies welcome!

Maby....It all depends on the day and the weather,,conditions...what type of target,,is the area the bullet is in white or black!!! what is behind the target that you can see thru the hole....and how well you have it focoused and parallax free....and how clean your glasses are.!!!!,,,I have strained and strained to see em at 5oo and give up and look away and a puff of wind come along and the air clear up and ....guess what there that lil stinker is....what is it doin wayyyyy over there????!!!! Of course you asked about 6mm holes....and as you know the bigger the hole the easier it is to see it.....at 600 it is alomos impossible to see 6mm or 6.5---but 7mm starts to show up ...and 30 pretty easy....hope this helps.....Roger

Should not be much out there that can really see better...but conditions will make the final decision. In good conditions I can see 6.5's at 500 with 22-25x.

I have a 40x LCS and it "sees" pretty well. 42x NF "sees" a little better though...as it should.

Also depends on your eyes.

If you can't spot the holes looking straight on through the scope try using your peripheral vision. It's tough to do in high-mag scopes since you'll lose the sight picture so easily but the sides of your eyes can often see what the rear cannot. -Rod-
