Bullet for Gas Gun - 300 Yards

...well they used to. Haven't been there in a while, but was the best accuracy bullet I've ever used out of more than a few 9T and faster 22 barrels.

NRA/CMP tournaments don't allow muzzle brakes, so there's that.

I have stuck with 69 grain Sierra Match Kings and 24.5 grains of Varget for 200/300 yards simply because it shoots the best from my rifles. I adjust the windage as needed. If I don't shoot cleans at 300 it's my fault, the rifle ammo combination is good for 1 moa or less at that range.

Outlaw match.
Thank you. I scored some 77’s.

a 77gr. bullet, and something between 23.7 - 24.0gr. of Varget, with a Lake City case, and a Rem. 7.5BR primer is my "go to" match load.
Thank you.
That seems to be the range most are shooting. I don't have LC or 7.5's but I do have Varget and 77's so it's a start.
The receiver set will be arriving today at some point so I can hopefully get this together and start shooting this upcoming week.

White Oak 26" Optical Barrel
LC 18 Wolf SRM Shooters World S062 23.8 75gr. Hornady BTHP
Will clean a 600 yard Target , If you do your Part.
I’d love to try the 75 Hornady’s but at this time I’ll go with what I can find.

Is this at Mag Length (2.260")? Also, what velocity & SD's are you getting? THX!
I only post Ball Park Load Info.
I won't want people or equipment Damaged.
Old Leeson Built Two High Dollar Target Rifles for a Lad. To lazy to work up loads , copied loads .
Burned the bolt face out of two bolt ! He could care less .
It burnt my Butt.

Ok, one for the hive:
77gn SMK and Varget
Jump or no? If yes, how much?
I currently have the die set so they are just off the lands.
I’m just looking for a starting point and don’t want to chase well worn wrong pathways.

Mag length, start around 23.5 gr. My sweet spot for Varget w/ a 77 gr. was 24.0, from a 20" barrel. It was mildly compressed (or maybe just no free space to 'shake' the powder), if I remember correctly. I ended up switching to Re-15 because it was more readily available.

For a gas gun using SMK 77, I am assuming standard magazines and I would load to magazine length and test at 2.250 for starters and play with charge. This is what works for WOA and CLE rigs. I am not familiar with Saturn, so unless they do something dramatically different, I would start at mag length.

There usually isn't much need to play with seating depth on the 77 SMK from the magazine. The SMK 80 is too long for the magazine and does show benefits when tuned for depth, but since the 77 isn't typically single fed I would just run the powder node with the seating depth at the 2.250"

The above advice from @dc.fireman is good. You will find your Varget node near there, and the RE-15 is usually very close to 24.0 gr plus or minus for the particular bbl.

Here is an old but good page with SR loads.

You will see an old table with some reamer print dimensions that show the typical SR designs. If you were loading SMK 80 for the 600 yard line, you would definitely benefit from running a test of seating depths, but for the 200 and 300 yard line, your powder node should get you inside the X-ring at magazine length.

Thank you @RegionRat
I have a BobSled single shot mag and have the current crop of bullets loaded longer than mag length. They are loaded as shooters... meaning I'm not gonna be looking for anything extraordinary from them. Really they're just for break in. I only have 100 of them so once they're gone I'll start really fussing with the 77SMK's.
