Bullet consistency lot to lot

What's the biggest variance you've seen in different lots of bullets. Just opened a different lot of Berger hybrids and the base to ogive length was .030 longer than the last box.

same here and it was driving me crazy. i use a hornady comperator bullet dia insert to measure base to "ogive". this does not measure true in that the insert is smaller than the lands diameter of the barrel...found this out by accident. measured custom bullets and the were close to another brand, so i loaded them the same. lousy groups, so i stuck one gently into the muzzel and marked the ogive/lands contact, did the same with the old bullet and there was about .025 difference, the newer ones having the much shorter bearing surface. the ogive of the new ones was different even though the surface measured by the insert was close to the older bullet. i could ream out the insert to more closely represent the bore diameter and this would be more representative of true "base to ogive".
