Dissatisfied with Sinclair and Hornady insert dimensions, I watched a video by Mr. Cortina where he discussed the same disappointment. While the Bob Green tools shown are great gear, a different route is offered below. A sacrificial .420 Hornady shoulder comparator insert, a Sinclair comparator (Hornady has the same dimensions and better made), and a Wilson bushing, with a setscrew for the Wilson bushing. I enlarged the .420 end of the Hornady comparator to .500 with an end mill in my wood lathe (!) to about a .375 depth. Added a setscrew and now I can match up bushings to bore size more economically. I sunk the bushing ever so slightly below the Hornady comparator so I would have the same zero dimension every time.
I've not seen this before, but I'm smart enough to think that I'm not smart enough to have come up with it. Just sharing. Thoughts and comments are welcome.
