BULLET COATING QUESTION

Is there a difference in the stainless steel pins used for cleaning brass than the stainless steel balls referred to when bullet coating is discussed ? Wanting to learn how to Danzac coat. Any help or suggestions like what to use or any "how to" appreciated. Also, where does one purchase the Danzac material ?

With Danzak there is no need for pins or balls.
I pointed up some bullets a couple weeks ago and coated them.
For 1100 bullets I put 40 gr. of Danzak in a small tub ( they almost fill the tub up completely) and then put it in a larger tub which fits my rotary tumbler.
I let it run about 4-5 hrs.
When done roll 50-100 at a time around in a sock and this is how they turn out.
Make sure the lids are taped on securely so you don't end up with Danzak everywhere.
I purchased the Danzak out of Canada and had it in 3 days cost was around $ 80.00 for 1#.

That looks like Moly to me. I was thinking Danzac was like a whitish coating? The coating looks great though, whatever it is.

There's just more than one correct way to coat bullets. Bottom line is do what works. I use ws2 and no pins or anything. I coat about 1000 bullets at a time with bullets washed in acetone, then dried in the sun or oven to a temp that is uncomfortable to hold. The heat dries the ws2 while coating more than anything else, imo.

I just put 1000 bullets in a vibratory tumber for 2-4 hours(not real critical) and take them out when they look good. I use about a thimble full of ws2 and buff all 1000 off in an old towel for a few seconds when done. That's it! Nothing to it but there are other methods that work well. Again, I don't think one is better than the other if they look well coated and it doesn't rub right off. Easy process. I've tried just about all of them and this is simply mine. It's noisy and not good to breathe so keep that in mind.

I used Danzac for a number of years. I used old plastic mayonnaise jars, which fit perfectly in a Thumler’s Tumbler tub. I added several hundred regular BB’s to the jar.

The key to a quality finish was 1) rinse all the bullets in acetone, drain and 2) get them hot. I placed them in an oven at 250F on a pie plate for 15 minutes or so, then directly jnto the jar with a small amount of Danzac. The first tumble you’ll need a little extra Danzac to coat the BB’s.
I think I tumbled them for a couple of hours, then carefully removed them (used a spoon) wearing rubber gloves onto a small towel for buffing. (PITA). They shot good, looked good, did it help? I don’t know if they did anything at the target, but I was scoring really well and guys came over and saw my silver bullets and wondered if they were the secret to my success. Maybe I guess?
P.S. I use naked bullets now, was too much of a pain.
