Bullet choices

I'll be starting to reload 25-06 (117gr) and 270rem (130gr) for deer (SC) both shooting under 300yds. Was looking at Sierra bullets either Gameking (Boatail) or ProHunter. 2nd choice is Barnes TSX 115gr for the 25 and 140gr for the 270. Which is better and is the Barnes really worth the extra $$? Appx $36/50bullets for the Barnes and appx $30-35/100 for the Sierra. Suggestions?!

Concerning bullets for your 25-06, by all means get some Berger 115 Hunting VLD's! As my daughter would say , "they are the bomb"!

I shoot the 117 gr sst hornady in my 25-06 and have great results out to 350 yards. And they don't break the bank. But you will have no problem with the Sierra bullets! I also like the hornady interlocks as well!!

The Sierras will work fine. The pro hunter flat base seems to hold together better. If you want to step up a bit, try Nosler accubond or Hornady inter bond.

A very good site that I use when selecting projectiles for use on deer sized game is:
http://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase.html

Hope you find some goodies there.
That website it loaded! Thanks for the tip, I'll get busy reading/learning!

Will give them a try. Got 4 kids so maybe another B-day present!!

130gr interlocks (.270) sitting on the shelf. The gunshop owner recommended the Sierra and Barnes. His son really liked the Barnes.

Nosler accubond. As noted above got 4 kids so will put together another shopping list and see what shows up!
Thanks for all the good advice, very much appreciated! AJ B

Those Hornady 130's will work too. Hard to go wrong with a 130 gr bullet in a 270. Use what your rifle shoots best

For SC and Ala. deer I have had good luck with the Hornady SST and the price is right. I don't think you can go wrong with them and they seem pretty accurate.
