Bulk fill resin/epoxy?

I honestly hadn't though about it. I suppose we only want one spot to hold recoil.
Yeah...nothing good comes from having more than one recoil surface. That's a guaranteed source of fliers and/or what seems to be a gun that's fussy to tune. On actions with the BR style flat tangs, make sure there's clearance at the back and around the entire tang if you're not using the back of the tang as the recoil lug (yuk). If for some reason the back edge is being used as the recoil surface, make sure the sides have clearance and radius the corners so it doesn't 'wedge' in there. Honestly, I hate using the 'XP cut' as a recoil surface on a bolt it (double yuk). If the cut is a 90 degree cut it's slightly less objectionable. But only slightly. I do feel that a lug below the bottom and at the front of the receiver makes the stock behave better in recoil.

My preference is to address the clearance prior to bedding with two layers of .010 thick tape on the front and rear 'cut walls'. Then I don't have to fumble around a nice bedding job with a razor sharp end mill just to get some clearance. This one is in the Pro Bed right now. It's a BAT SV that's been fitted with a 700 style recoil lug:
