Built a new loading bench with a plywood top. Looking for a good coating for it.

I just build a sturdy steel framed loading bench the top is 3/4" plywood. I am looking for something to coat it with or paint it with that would be durable and easy to clean etc. I was thinking something like Rhino liner on a truck bed. Any suggestions? Thanks PG

I put some fake hardwood flooring on mine-- looks like the top is made out of nice hardwood-- is going to last forever--- went right over the plywood--looks great---

I use inexpensive 12x12 adhesive backed floor tiles from Lowes. Easy to cut, lay, and best of all simple to replace when one becomes damaged.
Makes a nice smooth easy to clean surface.

Rhino liner might be pretty rough finish and would be extremely tough cleaning. I'd go with several coats of polyurethane.

Go to a hardware/lumber like Home Depot and pick out some Arborite sheeting or a knock off brand of the same. The sheets they stock are usually quite inexpensive. It easily installs with contact cement over plywood. Use a router or file (more work) to edge trim it. Smooth, very durable, and easy to clean. Get a lighter color with no pattern so you can easily see small objects and spilled powder, etc...

I used white Formica on my top. It is eay to clean. The down side it shows dirt easy.

I used several coats of fast dry polyurethane. worked great, very easy to clean. the first few coats I sanded between. now it is slick. I used birch plywood on mine, just because I like it more.

+2 on Formica, cleans great, easy to install. Stock colors at any of the big chain home improvement stores are cheap. Stains will come out with either bleach or electronic cleaner. Go with gloss finish & it won't stain & looks great. The ultimate would be star board (sheet polyethelyne) but it's too expensive.

I use birch plywood trimmed with cherry and coat it with tung oil. Not as slick and shinny as poly and you can always sand and re-coat.
