Building my first 6mmBR

You are 100% right sir,the only problem would be free bore length. This it the limiting factor, but not a big one.......... jim

I can't really give you the answer on a BR. but on a dasher i can if you plan to shoot the 103-108 bullets it would be .135 if you jump them and .120-.125 if you shoot them in,but .135 i have used with success both jumping and .010 in....... jim

Steve, If it were me i like to have my own reamer rather taking what the smith has. Once you set up on a set up
it stays the same barrel to barrel. So i would seat a 105 back in the neck but well above the shoulder area then the light bullets can reach the lands also. but if i plan to just use the 105's i would seat them out and get more case capacity ......... jim

Thanks Jim - Yes, I agree, buy my own reamer. When it comes time to do that I will call David Kiff and make sure I get what I need. I keep reading good things about David and PT&G. Best, Steve

Steve3, you are welcome to come visit at Williamsport any time. You just have to go in the club and sign the visitors book. You can learn a lot by talking to the shooters and seeing the equipment. Must of them will tell you about anything you need to know. There are some shooters that are great gunsmiths like Mark King, to talk to as well. Another thing to think about is the benchrest school they put on. It shows you everything from brass prep. to loading. The top 3 for two gun at IBS 1000 yard Nationals were past students or teacher. It will save you a lot of time and money for things you don't need and teach you what would take years to learn. Matt

Matt - Many thanks for your kind help. Yes, I am looking forward to Williamsport. I will check into the school as well. Best, Steve

I am building a 6mmBR with a Pac-nor 10 twist barrel. Do you think I will be able to shoot the 95 grain Berger vlds out of it? It is a #4 contour. I want something that weighs around 10 lbs. sometimes I do a lot of hiking for chucks. This may get used on a occasional antelope. What are you suggestions? Thanks

Don't know what kind of distances you anticipate. But I wouldn't be using a 95VLD on rockchucks, especially at 6BR velocity. I've shot a fair number of them with 65's....the results are very messy and satisfying.
