Building first rifle...few questions

I'm looking at building a tactical rifle setup. I've decided on shooting a .308,intend to do some tactical comps and deer hunting). Looking at using the Stiller Tach30 action, a Krieger Barrel and a HS precision stock. What is a recommended barrel length and twist rate? I was reading 1:10 is a good rate for a lot of bullets, 1:11 is a good compromise. I'll prob shoot around 175gr bullets. Also, I'm left eye dominant and right handed. I noticed with my old rifle I was more accurate if I rolled me head to use my left eye instead of my right. Is there a way to set this rifle up,scope rings, rail anything?) to be able to use my right eye and still be accurate?,If i point at an object with both eyes open from 10ft, close my right eye, my finger is still on target, if I close my left, my right eye shows my finger about 5 inches to the left). Sorry for the long post, but thanks for any help

I have a F-Class built with a 1-12' shoots up 175's great! A 1-11 or 1-12' at 27-28' finish length is about right for shooting 150-180 grain bullets.

I am getting around 2740fps with a 175

For what it's worth, I am shooting 175's out of a 1:11 that started out at 26'. I had a brake installed that I later didn't like, the new brake had different threads so I took advantage of the opportunity and shortened the barrel to 22'. The difference in accuracy remained unchanged and I only lost about 10fps with my load. Where I noticed the biggest gains was in the maneuverability and, might be all in my head) quicker acquisition of the next target.

Go 1:11 for a barrel. You will never shoot a bullet out of a 308 that needs more twist. Your whats called 'cross dominant' they have offset bases for iron sight cometition shooters. Someone probably makes offset rings for scopes but there going to hard to find. if you do find them they will be weak and not the best for a field rifle. An f-class shooter that can't use his right eye cut the top of his stock off so he can lay his head on the stock and look through the scope with his left eye. Works in prone, I don't know about other positions.

Take a look at the Manners stocks.

You can check out the gun gallery for the US F Class team@ usfclass.com. There is one gun and shooter who has to roll his head because of an eye problem.

Maybe it's just me but if you haven't built the rifle yet!
why not build a lefty, and learn to shoot left handed, if you haven't spent most of your life behind a rifle shooting right handed, it shouldn't be that hard to train yourself to shoot well lefty.. just my 2cents

Go the home page and select gun of the month and read this article. Jeff is cross eye dominate and does very well.
