Building a 6.5X284 rifle off Short action

onpoint

I have the parts to build a rifle and was thinking of a short action 6.5X284. I would like to use berger 130 or 140 grain bullets. Here are the parts I have so far.

Stiller Tac30 action
Manners EH3 stock with wyatt 2.95" mag box
Jewell trigger

I want to use a Proof research barrel. The question is wyatt 2.95" mag box long enough for this cartridge.

Long range hunting. Want a lightweight. I have a 6.5saum GAP and a 260 beanland. I might consider a 7-08 or 338 federal.

My 6.5x284s with 130 Berger VLD hunting bullet COAL is 3.105 and that is with the bearing surface right at the neck shoulder junction. You may be limiting yourself to bullet selections with a short action. As an aside, I built mine on a TAC 300 and a Wyatt's detachable box and it feeds smooth.
