Building 6MM BR SS rifle with XP 100 Action

I have an HS precision full on custom 6mm BR that I bought from them during the late 80s. It has maybe 400 rounds through it. Heavy fluted barrel.
I am thinking of making a 6MM BR rifle `out of the action. Nothing wrong with pistol but the shooter/owner. Lining up behind that scope has gotten too difficult since I am in my 80s.. Plus I am always making changes to something.

Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas? Anyone?

Yes sir, at 80 years younger, do what ever you want. I might suggest seeing what the market is on selling yours first. There are great deals pretty often on bench guns on this forum. But one of them. I think 6ou will get more bang for your buck. Just an idea.

Jack, you are onto something very special!

Pick a twist-8 for the heavies

12 twist for the light bullets

They will all impress you and will be just a joy to shoot!

Keep the barrel as long as you can stand, add a Gentry muzzle break that throws the concussion down range, and will reduce recoil to a 223.

I thought about trying to sell it as it is a really “all in” gun. The action is blueprinted it is the 15 inch bull fluted stainless barrel all mounted in HS precision center grip stock with aluminum bedding block has a Leupold 2X extended eye relief scope mounted and a bi pod. Less than 400 rounds through it. When I had this built I had a 7MM BR and a 22BR done at the same time. I sold off all of my guns but my must keeps fearing $200 buy back of guns worth thousands. Thank you for your input . If you think of any thing else let me hear.

I lost all of my money and now live on fixed income and with prices going up I may be out of the game but...
I hate to waste my fluted heavy barrel and my HS Precision stock but I like the short SS action.I am a fan of the 6BR also. Additionally I like designing guns. I have the professionals do the work. I dream up the gun, what parts, with what parts, twist rates etc. I may not be able to fund the rifle. Stocks in the $1300+ range were an eye opener.

If you go 6BR, think 8 twist and short throat. (so you can touch the lands)
Start with the lightest bullets you can get your hands on and go heavier as the throat wears. (and it will, probably faster than you want)
SO, looks like you have a HS Precision "pistol" with a 15" barrel??
How cool is that? Might consider posting it "For Sale" on "http://specialtypistols.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x.
Thinking you won't have any problems passing it on to a new shooter, unless someone wants/tries to get it for next to nothing. :(

sell that unique pistol ,,,it sounds like something a pistol/varmit shooter would love to have,,,,then take the $$$ and buy a good used "B"enchrest rifle,,,,Roger

From a legal standpoint, once converted to a rifle, it can not be converted back to a pistol..fwiw. A rifle can be converted to a pistol but not the other way around.

Thanks for your response. Am new to forum and apologize for taking so long to acknowledge you. What do you think would be a doable asking price? It is wearing a 2X Luepold EER Scope. The trigger is so sweet it will bring tears to your eyes.
You put ?? After 15” barrel, why, is there something that I need to clarify about that?

As I told NorCalMiki I am new to this site and apologize to you taking so long to respond to you after your responding to me. I appreciate your advice. As I ask the other fellow what do you think would be a doable asking price for this pistol. It is a really nice gun with few rounds through it. 6 BRs are very easy on barrels so it would last forever. The stock is HSPrecision center grip with aluminum bedding block. Leopoldo EER 2X scope.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your thinking on my question. I appreciate it very much. I would really prefer to build rifle using a barreled action but am probably a few hundred dollars shy. Hate to waste everything but the action of my pistol but that saves me nearly a grand if I had to buy the action. I want to use Shilen products. I would buy a full rifle from them but $3500 puts the brakes on that. Their barreled actions are $1500 much more doable but leaving much to spend. Barrel only is approx $560 using my XP action makes it more reachable.

I think you have that backwards.
If that were true, there is a huge number of folks breaking the law with the Contenders, Encores and G2’s.
What ever it is “born” as at the very beginning is what it is forever.

I am done on the subject as I have seen this topic before, it never ends well.
