Budget Friendly Action for Remington 700 Short Action?

You can order shouldered prefits for it without sending the action to the smith?
If the barrel maker has one of the 507 actions on hand, yes it can be turned as a shoulder pre-fit barrel.
My personal choice would be an Origin action so you could use Savage Small shank barrels, while having the aftermarket support of a Model 700.

One of or yours? Are they tight enough in tolerances that they can make a shouldered prefit from a drawing like an Origin?

Typically the maker or smith would have an action on hand. As far as my experience has gone. The 307 actions are very tight tolerance actions.

Hasn’t been my experience. Smiths don’t have boxes of actions. You either send yours in or they make it from the action specs. Can a smith, without the action in hand or any action, make a shouldered prefits? Are the 307 tight enough tolerance from action to action to do this like the custom actions? That is my question.

Yes, many of the cnc actions availabe now have tight enough tolerances that the action isn't needed to chamber a barrel. For the Origin (and a few others) https://northlandshooterssupply.com/ has shouldered prefit barrels in stock, as well as nut style barrels. All the shouldered prefits I've ordered from Northland have hit go/no-go gauges perfectly. https://theurbanriflemanstore.com/ also does prefits for many aftermarket actions. Both are site sponsors here.

I know about the origin. I have one and two TL3s. I was asking about the 307.
