BRX trimming in a Wilson trimmer

I have just finished forming my BRX brass and my Wilson 6BR case holder will
not hold the fireformed brass. What are you guys using for a case holder? Thanks for any insight.

Did you size your brass before putting it in the shell holder? My brass wont fit until I size first, before I trim.

Kevin

I also have to run my 6brx formed brass through the body die before it will fit into the shell holder, not much of the neck will protrude past the case holder but enough to trim. Be careful how much you trim, the case is more then likely shorter then spec anyway!

My highest count box of 6 BRX Lapua brass now has been loaded 25 times & I have yet to trim. Case stretching is not an issue. Chamber length is 1.570" & the longest in that box of 20 measures 1.555".

My findings exactly Frank, I wasn't sure enough without walking to the loading room and do some measuring to give specifics so I just through caution out there.

Wilson has two case holders for the BR case, one for fired, the other for unfired brass.

FD and Bozo: I am aware of the chamber length to brass lenght but I want to square them up and get them all the same length after fire forming.

Alf: Thanks. I had looked at the wesite where I usually buy my stuff and the fired holder wasn't listed. I will check elsewhere.

Thanks all who replied.

O.K., I understand. My case lengths do not vary by more than .005, I just let them go, but do measure after every neck sizing with a .001" shoulder push back. Have not seen any case mouths that are not square. Just trying to keep it simple.

It is very possible that I am overreacting. This is my first case modification and figured that things would not be perfectly square. The only way for me to know was to set it up in my trimmer and see what happens. Perfectly may be the wrong word as nothing is perfect in my world but I like to have things uniform and as close to correct as possible so when things don't shoot as well as I want I can look in the mirror and see what is wrong. I do appreciate the input as I am still very under educated at all this.

Waskawood,
I understood what you were asking, I should have told you about the other case holder, I don't believe in neck sizing only so I usually only buy the unfired case holders, I do have several fired case ones but generally don't bother with them. As far as the case lengths Frank and I were just throwing it out there because we
( I shouldn't speak for Frank,...sorry Frank ) I was just trying to make you aware of it in case you didn't know, when I am new to something I appreciate all the info I can get, when the cases are to short to start with and you shorten them more there are other problems that can occur the main one IMO is the chance of a carbon ring building where you don't want it to with the shorter cases, as the cases grow it could cause a problem, of course if your aware of it or use a bore scope in conjunction with cleaning it won't be a issue. I don't fault you at all for wanting them all the same length and square, best of luck to you with your new wildcat.

Wayne,

I hope I didn't give the impression that I didn't appreciate your input. That definately is not the case. I appreciate any input I can get as I am quite new and very humble. I think the sport tends to humble us just as we think we have it figured out. :) Thanks again for all the help guys.

Waska,
No problems here I wish the best for you and hope to here more from you, would like to hear back from you when you get a load worked up for your 6brx ;)
Wayne.
