Brux bbl is on the way

My 6mm Brux bbl 8"twist palma contour should get here tomorrow. Gun smith is ready to start work on it. It will be 6x284 28" bbl Hope for the best,Uncertain which bullets I'll start out with . Maybe Sierra 107 MK

Thanks LRPV. Just received it,it measures 31" . I'm thinking of 29'-30" bbl instead of 28" I wonder if it will give me a headache ? Its Brux's version of a STD Palma measures .820 at muzzle.

107's and 115 DTAC's shoot great out of mine.
Make sure you put a muzzle brake on it.
With the slow burning powder it uses I would opt
for the 30 in barrel. You will be rechambering
at least once and 30 will leave you enough to
rechamber twice.

1st two bbls I had a muzzle brake. This time with out( Can always put one on later) Former bbl was a 26" with 10" twist,it seemed to like Re#17,19 and H4350. Pushing bullets in the 70gr to 90gr range. This bbl will be for 105 Amax -115 DTAC . Any powder suggestions ?

I think if I was doing it again I would have cut mine at 30" I don't think the extra 2" would have bothered me anymore than the 28" does. I would definitely give the Ramshot Magnum a try at least. It seems to be working VERY well for the guys that have been trying to help me and it gave the most consistency that I could find in mine even though it still didn't work like I wanted it to, yet anyway. It does not heat up the barrel near as fast as the extruded powders did. RL-22 seemed to be one popular choice that I never did try, and IMR 7828 is the powder that ALF told me performs best in the 6-284, and of course I didn't try it either.

You like having a brake on a 6mm?

Maybe let your gunsmith decide what length he can get out of that 31"? I had a 31" Bartlein 308 chambered for Palma earlier this year, ended up 29" after the muzzle end was found to be 'not quite good enough' to leave the extra inch. Still shoots better than I can.

In my 30" Bartlein 5R 1:7.8 6XC (Berger 6mm 105VLD or Hybrid) I'm getting great results with 8208XBR but admit 6x284 may best be suited to something a little slower. I'd try H4350 first, then RL-19 (17 worked in the 6XC but was a little peaky). Might also look into H1000, IMR 7828, H4831SC or VV's N 160/560 - 550 works well in 6XC.

Just got back from Gunsmith.(Nice he's just 30 minutes away) He wants 1 new unfired new brass ,he's says a tight chamber around the case head is desirable . Out of the box it measures 31" So it will be 30" finished. I'm going to try it with out the brake, last two bbls had them. Didn't kick much with them off. Next up finding a hard case long enough ? Yes LRPV I think I will start out with Ramshot magnum thanks. Sorry yours isn't performing up to your expectations. Have you killed any thing with yours yet ?
