Brux barrels

I dont think the good barrel steel is imported

Most of the US supply of steel comes from South Korea. Also, there are import limits that are often tripped before the end of the year so US companies order heavy in the 3rd quarter or risk not being able to get any.

Edit: correction, we import more from Canada in total tonnage, Korean exports the most SS. Wanted to make sure I was accurate

Some of our US premium barrel makers source imported steel at times. This is not what I heard…but rather one of our premium barrel makers told me this info.
I would like to know the barrel maker who imports there barrel steel.

I would like to hope that the imported barrel steel (that some barrel makers might be using) is coming from Japan and not China.

Drove down to Brux while on Vacation. Ken was very accommodating. Just wanted to buy a few barrels. Gave us a tour and introduced several employees. Didn't ask, just did it. I didn't order barrels, he just pulled them from stock, and Contoured them while we got lunch.
Super nice folks, great barrels. Gave us a couple of T shirts too!. Whatever steel they used shot great!

Have two brand new Brux waiting their turn on my TR Rifle . The last Brux that was on the gun when I bought it seven years ago , gave me 4,500 good Target rounds before going South , and I hope these will do just as good .
The folks at Brux are always polite , courteous , and go out of the way to get you just what you want .

Here's where one barrel maker gets their raw material and probably not where you would think, lots of good info on barrel making also:

Give us a hint. I really do not want to listen to 1hr 53 minutes of juvenile potty mouth to find out.

The maker is Ace barrels and the owner stated some of the best steel comes from France. They have newer, better controlled factory among other factors. It's worth a listen to hear Mark's story - rare gent, a MIT graduate with some common sense and paid his way through school building muzzleloaders.
