brux barrels

has anyone used any brux barrels from lodi,wi.? gunsmith by me said they make a nice barrel and he could get a 6.5 blank in about 2 weeks.want to put together another 6.5-284 for a friend. thanks for your input. cliffe

Cliffe,

I have one of thier barrels in 7mm. It is chambered for .284 win. and it is indeed a very accurate barrel. The price was very good and the Liebetrua's are excellent to deal with !

I have a Brux HV barrel in 6 BRX and it is one of the best 6mm barrels I have ever owned. I would not hesitate a moment to order another one. FWIW

Jerry,

Thanks for the very comprehensive info. Looks like H4895 might be worth pursuing. I noted:

Bullet – Powder-Load –Land OAL --- Loaded OAL --- MV --- ES --- SD --- Group size

B-LTB – H4895- 46.0 – 2.870” -------- 2.850” ----------3048 --- 11 --- 04 ---- 0.373” Sub 0.4" 2d best LTB group

B-VLD – H4895- 46.0 – 2.893” -------- 3.910” ----------3062 --- 17 --- 06 ---- 0.291” Best group of the day

Sierra --- H4895- 46.0 – 2.830” -------- 2.810” ----------3049 --- 19 --- 08 ---- 0.453” 2d Best Sierra Group

Seems like you have an accuracy node around 3050 fps, and H4895 works well in that range.

It also looks like 2980 is good velocity. Note how you had two 2983 fps loads and they both shot an 0.30X:

B-LTB – H4895- 45.0 – 2.870” -------- 2.850” ----------2983 --- 25 --- 09 ---- 0.300”

B-VLD – Varget- 46.5 – 2.893” -------- 3.910” ----------2983 --- 09 --- 03 ---- 0.304” VERY LOW ES/SD

Sierra --- H4895- 45.0 – 2.830” -------- 2.810” ----------2979 --- 21 --- 08 ---- 0.399”

As many of you may know, I set a score record of 50 2x w/a 0.941" group at 600 yards. To say the least I love my Brux barrel! The good folks at Brux are sending me another barrel - I can't wait to get it chambered & see if it shoots like the other one.

I didn't go up through all the posts to see if this will be a duplicate post or not but here goes. Brux Barrel, Bartlein Barrel, and Rock Creek Barrel all have men in their employ that were trained by Boots Obermyer. They learned the art of cut rifling from him. The fact that they moved on in no way bothered Boots, as I understand it. Wisconsin and the barrel birners of USA are fortunate to have such a choice in rifle barrels.

Guys we never worked for Obermeyer. We only worked at Krieger and Krieger himself never worked for Obermeyer either.

Being from WI, I can say when buying a barrel it's not hard to keep the money local. I personally have one Brux barrel in 6.5x284, unfortunately I can't tell you how it shoots because that rifle is still waiting for a stock. But if it shoots like any of the other Brux barrels that my buddies own it'll definitely be a tackdriver. Top notch service and I've yet to see a Brux that didn't shoot!!

FB, No problem. We get it all the time. Just because we are in WI people automatically think we worked with Boots etc...

Well,'ya may not have worked with him, but you're all related in WI aren't 'ya? :)

most of the barrel makers are in the southern part of the state. randy is in the northern part, so far north that a traffic jam is 2 cars following a tractor for about a quarter mile. randy did some work on a sako i have, he did a great job on it. he really knows his stuff.hopefully this barrel on order keeps that high standard of quality that the wisconsin guys are doing.
BTW alot of people move out of wisconsin, and the smart ones move back! cliffe
