Browning X Bolt Max Long Range opinions

Give me the good and the bad. Looking for a factory rifle in the $1000-$1200 range that's better than a basic model rifle. I'm wanting something with a decent trigger and comfortable stock for bench and PRS. I'm lost, help. LOL

Bought a XB2 Speed just a few weeks ago - 30-06. My first Browning in about 23 years. This will do for a long way, I'm certain. I will let the target posted speak for itself. Final three shots with suppressor.

Either of the Savage Target models will be a better platform, imho.
Better trigger, single shot option, good stock for as far as 1000 yds in a 300WM.

Whats your idea of "Long Range?"
I'm partial to Rem 700's and Winchester 70's - Solid actions
Ruger Americans Impressed me with the ease of taking them apart and removing the barrel and
Function well

I worked on an X-Boltsfor a friend once and it DID NOT impress me
crappy trigger quality
little squirt of silicon in the barrel channel was their idea of bedding

You will most likely need to make quality handloads to shoot long range effectively
And The Rem 700 has much better aftermarket support to accomodate many options in high quality components when you decide to step it up.
Ideally, have a rifle built with a quality barrel if you plan to shoot long range.
I have not seen many factory rifles be able to shoot what I would consider "Long Range" well.
However, Savages seem to shoot best "Out of the box" in recent years.
Savage has put out some with nice options such as models in the past with
Proof Barrels, 6.5x284, 280 AI etc. showing they at least listen to the shooting sport of Long Range

I have two Browning X-bolts for hunting. Great out of the box rifles with a feature set for hunting. I can't say it would be my choice for anything like PRS. The aftermarket just isn't there. Get something Remington 700-based or a Tikka.
