Browning Hi Power clones

Not mine, a 1976 Belgian.

Smooth edges on frame and slide. Optional adjustable rear sight. Uncle Mike's thin rubber grip panels. Gunsite enhanced the safety lever, bobbed the hammer, removed the mag. disconnect, and tuned the trigger.

Thats exactly what they all need
@Beiruty made me aware that mine's adjustable rear sight was not standard on Hi-Power Standard. My research reveals it was an option throughout the post-war Standard production. I had heretofore been unaware that fixed sights came on the base Hi-Power. So I might add adjustable rear sight to the "need" list.

My BHP was also a pawn shop find locally, part of an estate sale. T-Series from 1969, with Browning rug included. Almost pristine with little if any signs of being shot.

Wong pic below....sorry, can't seem to be able to remove.

After a couple of range sessions, it was clear that the dinky factory sights were not cutting it for my old eyes, so off it went to Novak's for an trigger/action job, remove the mag disconnect, mill the slide and install new tritium night sights. It's a real shooter now and I can see the freakin' sights!

I normally carry a Kimber Super Carry Ultra Plus 1911 in .45, but for those times I feel like a change, the HP goes with me IWB in a rig from Privateer Leather. I've found that with the same controls and manual of arms, it's just as natural (to me) as one of my 1911's. These are truly great pistols!

I am really not much into handguns, but I have always liked the looks of the Browning High power. After reading many reviews, I decided I just had to have one of these Springfield Armory SA-35’s. I have not shot it yet, but look forward to. One thing for sure it just feels right in my hand.

T-series are so beautiful

Id carry mine if i had a decent safety on it. The factory old browning one isnt very ergonomic

Dusty, I agree IRT that BHP safety.
I had my local smith install the extended C&S safety on mine, and it worked out perfectly. Just long enough to be easily disengaged or reengaged, but not so long as to be problematic. Highly recommended and makes the old girl viable again for carry.

Nak,

How the heck did you FIND one, let alone at that price? I have yet to see one in the wild.

I am hopeful that SA builds one with a nice blue and rosewood or walnut grips. Then I am IN!
Total blind luck. Local gun store had one, it was poorly displayed in a dark corner of their display cabinet. They marked it down and I happened to walk in. I like it, it has that wonderful HiPower feel and pointability.

I’m with you, they come out with a high luster blue and I’ll buy another one.

Good bluing is going away very fast. Even beretta is experimenting with DLC. Can you believe they even test their bespoke handmade heirloom pieces to salt spray tests?

It’s a tragedy and a shame. Makes those old high luster deep blue guns even more desirable to me.
All i was thinking was if i bought a $25k plus shotgun and it had the same coating as a bolt just due to salt spray tests id be severely pissed. The ones ive seen so far were more sporty models so it was ok there and id love to have it on a new 3.5” duck gun, but a skeet or trap gun no way.

Agreed

I like this one so much.....I may con my wife into buying me one.
