Browning Bartlein re-barrel

Just wanted to brag on the initial results of a re-barrel job I had done on a Browning A Bolt. It started life as a 270 Win, replaced the factory barrel with a Bartlein 5 R 1:10 #2B barrel. I had Mr Billy Tierce of Utica MS do the work, he throated it accordingly for a long action, and did all the metal and stock work. I started breaking in the barrel , cleaning between shots while getting it on paper at 50, moving on to 100. I finally got to the last 3 rounds that I was going to shoot yesterday , still cleaning between shots, and fired this little group. I am hoping for continued good results. These loads were some I had left over from the previous 257 Roberts in a Ruger 77 Hawkeye that I sent down the road. That Ruger would plant three into a 1 1/2" group on a good day. I am impressed with Bartlein barrels to say the least. Its not benchrest, its a hunting rifle and I'll take 3 round groups like this all day long. New Roberts.jpg 257 Roberts A Bolt 1st group .jpg

One you find the right load you'll be even more impressed.

I personally don't do any break in on barrels that were already hand lapped. I just clean them well before doing any shooting and again after the first range session.
