Browning ABolt fans

I know the ABolt is not for everyone but if you have one and are interested....
MGW has the single set trigger on closeout, hard to find at any price

After the install 3.25 pounds unset and less than 8oz set. My RCBS triggerpull gauge starts at 8oz and it does not move
I need to find weights

How is the overtravel when using the set trigger? I have a Steyr with a single set trigger. I feel that the overtravel when set is excessive. Kind of negates having it set a little.

If you aren't happy with the Steyr trigger you won't be happy with the Browning single set. The trip of the trigger is excessive as is the over travel.

Whichm is better A bolt or X.

I have both, one A bolt and two X bolts.
Positives: both models are very accurate and the extractor systems in both are flawless; at least in mine.

The X bolt is more stream line, better field handling and has a safety system so you can unload the rifle with the safety engaged. The polymer magazine will wear and mine needed replacement after two years of heavy field use. The A bolt magazine is metal.

My only compliant with both is the triggers. The X bolt is an improvement but still not as good as I'd like. I found a gunsmith to redo mine but it's still not where I like it. The A bolt is more problematic, the only solution I'm aware of is replacing the trigger spring with a Timmey spring. This helped but it left too much creep. If they ever got the trigger right, like the Tikka, then you would have a top flight factory rifle.

I believe the Tikka is a better value, certainly a far better trigger but not as accurate at least in my limited experience, I have two Tikkas.

The trigger issue should not be an issue for the big game hunter however for the precison varmint hunter its an issue, at least with me. Hope this is helpful.

replace the trigger spring with a larger size ink pen spring, you will be very, very happy, 12 oz-1.5 lbs....tune to your liking, works on all A bolt models.

If you have an A Bolt in 22 mag whatever you do- do not lose or misplace the magazine. Apparently Browning only made 1 magazine for each rifle! Been looking for one for about 4 months now.
