browning a bolt vs tikka t3

I'm thinking of buying a .223 rifle for varmint hunting and since I normal do alot of walking as oppose to sitting when I hunting I was hoping you guys could give me some input as to what rifle is the better one. I've got it down to two choices, please I know there are others, but these are the two I'm choosing from. The browning a bolt hunter in .223 with a 1 in 12 twist or the tikka T3. I'm a lefty so I'm limited as to makers. The tikka come with the 1 in 8 or 1 in 12 twist? I have a tikka in 243 and it's a screamer. I was thing of changing it up to a browning. If you had to choose which one would you choose and why? If you guys own either rifle please fill me in on the pros and cons. Thanks. Jeff Camiscioli

I've never used a Browing A-Bolt so I can't really comment on it. This considered, I don't see any particular advantage of the Browning over the Tikka. Also I would strongly advise against trading in your existing Tikka .243 if it is a good rifle because you will regret it.
I don't do much varminting myself, but a .243 would make a far better varmint rifle than a .223 due to the availabilitly of good High BC bullets and the extra range offered.

If you wanted two rifles, one a dedicated varminter and the other a dedicated hunting rifle, then I don't see why both can't be in .243.

For what its worth, I have a Tikka M595 in .243 and I use it as my 'all rounder' rifle whether I am shooting foxes at night under spotlight or hunting larger game. I would not part with it for any other make of rifle you care to name.

Hope this helps
Moo.

When I decided to buy a 300WSM the Browning A-Bolt M1000 was going to be the one, sadly Browning Europe will not import the M1000 and at the time I could not get any one to export one from the USA either.

After much searching I came across a T3 Varmint Stainless at the right price. I have been delighted with it. It has been a great gun accurate and reliable. the only downside for me when using it on deer is it only has a 3 round single stack magazine, and the mag cannot be loaded though the port, this means having a beartooth bullet holder on the stock and hand feeding rounds when you get into a big group of deer.

If I had the choice of either sat on the shelf here in the UK it would most likely be the M1000, why cos I am a sucker for a thumbhole stock:D
