Broke my first scope, now what?

I guess it was bound to happen, I just wish not under these circumstances.

I mounted up my nice Weaver T36 on my new 6mmXC and leaned the gun against my closet door. Not more than two seconds later my dog, dragging her giant over sized bone, bumped it and I watched it land perfectly on the scope. I knew right away it wasn't going to be good when I looked through it and sure enough the reticle was canted.

Now I'm trying to figure out what to do. Send it back to Weaver and ask them to repair it? Not sure how much it could be once they open it up and take a look. Or consider it scrapped and look out for a used one to replace it?

Something similar happened to me with a Leupold 4x12x40. It slipped out of my hand strait onto the concrete floor.
When I looked thought it, the cross hair was broke.
I sent it back to the service dep telling them what had happened, I fully expected to pay for there service.
But they fix it for free and sent it back postage paid....... wow.

I would try sending it back to Weaver. You never know they may if you’re lucky fix it free or they may not ………. Some companies customer Satisfaction come first, And they stand behind there products no matter what, But within reason.

The last time I paid for a reticle replacement it cost all of $75. Cheaper to repair plus they will go through the springs and turrets while they are in there - scope will come back better than new.

I guess I never thought about contacting the warranty center seeing as this is a second hand scope, and I wouldn't quite call the breakage part of "normal operations". But I'll give them a call. Thanks for the heads up.
