Brass not stretching in chamber

I'm wanting to set my die for headspace but brass is not wanting to stretch in the chamber ? some have been fired up to three times ? Do I keep on firing until bolt starts to get snug upon closer? Been neck sizing only? .280 AI and .300WM

Sounds like your chamber is on the minimum side of SAMMI. That is not a bad thing that brass is not being stretched. Just keep neck sizing until they are a snug fit in the chamber and you will know. Or you could do a chamber cast to measure your chamber dimensions.

My lapua only moved .002 after 1 firing.
Well see how far it moves after shooting 2nd firing today

Been neck sizing only
Set up a fl die with a .010" gap between shell holder and die. Size. See if case will chamber. If it doesnt, decrease gap by .002" till it chambers.

When and if the case body is sized smaller, the head to datum will grow, get longer.

Oh, that's easy! Simply pour your casting extra long. Remove the slug, chuck it in the lathe with the extra bit sticking out, dial it in, face it to length. Measure at your leisure.

Wait a minute... I may have overlooked something here ;)

Ah yes
Is amazing what one can do with a simple feeler gage and a threaded Die;)

Maybe I'm missing something here,My brass is to short to do as you suggested.

A picture is worth a thousand words, when you full length resize your are squeezing the diameter of the case and it can becomes longer than the chamber. The at a certain point in the last few thousandths of ram travel the die starts to push the case shoulder back down.

Many cheap Marines use a full length die to neck size their cases and only size half the neck. This partial full length resizing method doesn't squeeze the case body enough to cause it to increase in length.
