Brass Fireforming Business

Hi,
Im looking for a little bit of impute from you guys

Myself and a group of other students here in the Gunsmithing program here at TSJC a going to be starting a small business Fire forming brass through our reloading class that speedy is teaching.

What i would like to know from you is what cases would you like to see us putting out.

Here is a short list of cases that we had been talking about but feel free to add any cases that you would like to see.

6mm PPC
6mm Ackley,6mm rem)
22-250 Ackley
280 Ackley

What we would also like to know is what extent would you like the brass to be prepped, Whether the full speedy treatment or just next turned, or just left at fire formed.

Any other impute you might have for us please feel free to let me know

6mmBRX would be another you might add. Are you doin this fire forming with powder burn or hydrauliclly?

I recently got a hydraulic form die from Hornady this may revolutionize the way I fire from all my brass.

Hope you will do a post when you get a chance to run some cases through the new hydraulic forming press. I was thinking about one of those for my DASHER brass.

I am not sure the hydraulic process will give a result comparable as fire-forming. Imagine simply the pressure differential between the two processes and speed of process as well. This will probably move the shoulder,although not as consistently as F/F), but not perfect the radiuses. Set backs are also possible.

If the cases need to be fired once to be at real final chamber form, what is the benefit?.

There are F/F methods quite inexpensive using pistol semi-fast powders and wax plugs...

Howdy !

What I think you youngun's should do is... 'wildcat'

- Invent your own case

- Chamber the barrel

- Form the brass

- Shoot, verify your assumptions; check to see if goals were met


Just a thought.
