Brass elasticity affect on accuracy

How many times can you reload 308 brass for precision shooting form a bolt gun before it loses its elasticity? From what I have been told this will affect accuracy.

One, brass is work harden so with every firing and subsequent resizing neck tension is affected which may have an adverse effect on accuracy.

Probably 4-5 loadings (or less) and you will see the difference on target. For consistency and longer brass life, you may want to anneal. I was annealing at 4 times fired, but now I anneal every time. Gotta love those Benchsource machines.

What matters is how much are you sizing. If you have a generous chamber and you are FL sizing with a standard die with the expander button, you are needlessly working the crap out of your brass. I would recommend, even with a factory chamber, to use bushing dies WITHOUT the expander button. Figure out your loaded neck diameter and get the proper bushing(s).

Also, most of the guys I see screw their FL die all the way to the shell holder. This could not only be overworking the brass, but could also cause dangerous headspace problems in non belted magnums.

Proper setup is the key to longer brass life, but will still only take you so far....annealing is the only answer after they work harden.
