Brass conversion 300WM to 264WM

Please forgive me if there is a thread that already covers this, but I did look for one with no luck.
I have recently decided to change out the barrel in my 300 WM to 264 WM. I have several hundreds of rounds in 300 WM and plan to convert them to the 264 WM. To me, it seem like a very simple conversion, but I cant find anything on the interweb that conforms my thoughts.
If anyone out there has experience with this, any tips would be helpful. AKA, should I go from 300 to 7mm to 264 or can I go strait from 300 to 264?
All info is welcome and appreciated

I'm no expert by any means but don't waste your time. Case length for a 300 WM is 2.620, where the 264 WM is 2.500". A 7mm Rem can be necked down but you would only succeed in making a 6.5-300 WM if you necked down and it wouldn't work in your 264 WM. Sorry.

Almost anything is possible and this is no different, but you are looking at a LOT of work to do it right.
Just off the top of my head:
annealing..maybe multiple times
Resizing the case. To 7mm first then 6.5
Shortening the case by .120"
Neck turning to the proper thickness.
If you have the tools and time, do a couple of them and see if you want to tackle it.

Added
If the 300 WM cases have multiple firings on them, you may end up with cases that doesn't fit the new chamber properly and deal you misery. Also possible premature split necks and or donuts.

I just formed 250 pieces of Peterson 7RM to 264wm. That was very simple compared to using 300wm to form 264 brass, I just sized and turned necks. The OP should stick to using new quality 7rm brass for his change, preferably Peterson or ADG.

Thanks for all the great advise everyone! I'm seeing a couple options throughout all the advise. This is why people should ask questions before jumping into something. Ive been reloading for over 25yrs and have converted brass for years, however this is the first time working with Win Mag cases converting.
Any further advise will be appreciated as well. I'm defiantly not against giving the 264 a try. I have all the times in the world to figure it out, however I'm also not against other options. 6.5-300 from thatguyshm isnt a horrible idea either. The biggest reason I'm stuck on using 300 WM brass is I have over 400rds of the stuff. Why not use what you have and save some money.

Thanks again all!

hoz53 bother, you rock! How does the AOL look? I'm sure there will be some mad trimming to do and how would you approach that, before or after sizing?
