Brakleen or alternative

I don’t see this discussed much. Up until now I have used a lot of Brakleen, spacificly the green 14 oz cans you would buy at NAPA, O’Rileys house of chrome, etc… part number 05088. We use the same thing at work and buy it by the pallet loads, literal. For home use I would always wait for the sales at NAPA and by a case of it, and last time it was $2.99 a can. Well now that same can on sale is $4.99 and I‘m thinking it’s time to switch to a pressurized sprayer and buy in gallon form, or maybe to a whole other product.

I like the way it cleans and flashes off so I would like to stick with those characteristics, but am open to something more friendly if available that does close to the same job. I use this stuff on a lot of things, barrels during/after chambering, actions, bolts, automotive projects, etc… but curious what others might be doing?

You can also get Brakleen in gallon cans, for the sprayer. If you just want to spray off surface oils, Zep is the way. If you want to soak and scrub, brakleeen.

Isopropyl alcohol is really nice, and not quite so rough on plastics as some of the other solvents.
Wurth has an excellent Brake cleaner in pails, but they won't sell to the little guy. I use it at work. It's main ingredients are isopropyl and naptha.

I bought a Sureshot sprayer not long ago and it is very nice. I have been using mineral spirits for cleaning oils off stuff. Should have bought one years ago.
Now I need to try some different chemicals.

Can you adjust the Sureshot to get a hard stream?

Here is what I have been getting, When the Cov hit, Generic brake cleaner was 8.38 a can at my local Wally World for a while, I had to figure something else out. This stuff works out to a little over 3.00 a can.

For a premium solvent look at Glasurits 360-4 metal cleaner. You can find it at automotive paint jobber that sells BASF products.
It ain't cheap.
It's a very HOT slow solvent for removing any petroleum based contaminates prepping raw metal for paint.
Red scotch Brite with this product will remove lite surface rust.
Red scotch Brite on aluminum and your ready for etch epoxy or ceracoat.
It will soften painted surfaces so be careful!!
Typing this made me wonder how it will work as a bore cleaner. Lol
