Bragging on Henry warranty service

Not sure where to post this - but thought it is something one needs to know when "What to buy" saturates our minds.

I purchased a Henry Long Ranger 6.5 Creedmoor few months ago. Finally got out and shot it. Fired 1st round but I could not eject the shell - the lever was frozen. I took it to a local gunsmith which put a rod down the barrel and hit it, knocking the shell out. He said it was good - go shoot it. I did - same thing happened.

I called Henry customer service (immediate answer). I shared my plight. They sent me a UPS return label. I shipped the rifle back on their nickel. This was 10 days ago (Christmas time). I received it back last Friday - new barrel installed, buffed it inside and out, adjusted the trigger, then shipped it back (free of charge). I think it is better than new - almost a "custom" rifle now!

They made a real impression on me for their warranty service. It's not a flaw slipping through final inspection that bothers me, it is when a manufacture will not fix a flaw (or severely delays fixing it), that bothers me. This was not the case here.

I own several Henry's. This is the first time I have used this service. Almost makes me want something else go wrong with one of my other ones so I can get another one reworked through such "custom" service.

When I was a gunsmith at Gander Mountain I delt with all the different manufactures. Henery was one of the best to deal with. They were always friendly, answered the phone right away, and never hesitated on sending a firearm back for warranty work. they also believe in producing a quality product.

Just got a Henry Single Shot back for a recall and I’m so glad I sent it in. Trigger is great now. They worked with me to ship it back when I would be home to sign for it. It’s great to call a company and have a person answer immediately!

Glad you had a great experience with Henry. I read that their CS is really good. I'm thinking of getting either a Henry or the new S&W lever action. The only negative for me with the Henry is the 14" LOP. I'd have to get it shortened.

A dumb question but since it's a firearm, after you get a return label, do you just drop it off at a UPS place like any other item or do they schedule a pickup at your home?

Henry told me to put it in a box (not the original as you won't get it back) - and drop it off at a UPS place. I had a box but not enough packing. I took it to UPS store - they were kind enough to pack it in my box. I don't think that is standard however. I do a lot of shipping from that store - I'm sure they did that as a favor to me. I don't think they will pick it up, but I am not sure about that.

This past spring i bought a henry big boy in 357 mag. Couldnt hit anything and barrel fouled out in a couple shots. Bore scoped it and it looked like nails had been shot thru it. Bore was heavily scratched up lengthwise. Took a photo of the bore and placed a call To henry. Very helpful nice people. Emailed the pick and was issued a return. The rifle came back in 9 days and shot great. Heanry CS is awesome!

Back again praising my newest experience.

Recoil pad had odd spot on the bottom before sending it in for trigger recall, almost lost its sheen…this isn’t a brand new rifle so it’s expected to have some blemishes.

When I got it back from trigger recall (which was marvelous), I took it hunting. When wiping it down after the hunt, I was examining the dull area by rubbing my thumb across it and some rips appeared in the material.

Called Henry looking to buy a replacement pad, explained it was there before sending it in and it wasn’t their fault. They asked my address and said they are sending a new stock and recoil pad because it’s ground to fit. I was shocked to say the least! I honestly would have been ok with “we don’t sell prefit pads”…I would have ground myself.

I will have another Henry in the future to support the company that supports us so well.
