BRA Reamer Question - Long Freebore

@urbanrifleman - I just did a little search and it looks like you're using the Wilson 6BRA die (same one I ordered). You using a reamer based off a Wheeler #1 print? If so, you having any sizing issues? I assume Lapua brass?

Johnny - Appreciate it as always. I had planned to go Harrels based off our previous convo, but got lazy when I saw Sinclair had it in stock along with all my other components. I've always wanted to try a Wilson Bushing die out too.

Worst case I'll just run it through a bandsaw until it sizes the .200 line the way I want. :)

Seriously though, I'll buy a harrels if it doesn't work.

if some how you have issues with that die. you can always call Harrels and order a die to properly size the .200 line. just in case you have any issues down there... I use a Harrels D3 Dasher die with .080 chopped off of it. I believe is a standard practice for them. So keep that up your sleeve in case your factory Bra die doesn't size enough.

I use a Harrell's 2.5 die on my 6BRA brass.

I tested the Wilson bushing FL 6BRA die on my brass (Wheeler reamer). It seems (to me) to size right in between my Harrell's 2.5 and 3.0 die. YMMV

No sizing issues. Great dies. I have them in stock.

Quick question for you smart guys....I wouldn't need to turn into the shoulder with a .150 reamer would I? I could likely just get away with turning the length of the neck?

There wouldn't be any donut to worry about as the base of the bullet shouldn't be anywhere near the neck/shoulder junction....right?

I'm trying to avoid touching a 21st cutter I have setup for 30deg shoulders, and I also read some weirdness about how going too far into the shoulder can screw up FFing.

Edit: I'll be running a .272nk, so have plenty of clearance even for unturned.

Mike, kind of a yes & no, chances are good you'll form some doughnuts but with the long free bore that probably won't come into play. I prefer not to have doughnuts at all but that's just me. I cut slightly into the shoulder to avoid them and have never had any problems with F Forming. I have some old brass that have doughnuts but with my .125 free bore they don't contact the bullet body and I really have never seen a difference on the target. As long as it doesn't get into your head knowing that they are there you more than likely won't experience any difficulty. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

We are very close, i might have turned a revolution beyond yours.
