BR Handgun

I’ve been thinking about getting a BR handgun after seeing all the ones guys have posted on here and getting into mid range Benchrest myself.
Questions, are the XPs the way to go? I just did a quick look online and saw some savage strikers. Does a Remington 700 action wrench work on XP recievers?
I also never knew about using a rifle scope on a handgun before and after speaking with someone during a shoot he said a good brake is necessary, are radial brakes as effective mitigating recoil versus side ported brakes?
Thanks

@Mfitz717 ,
Radial brakes work good, but not as good as some of the better side ported ones.
The 700 action wrench works for the XP-100
Chambering you are thinking about?
Weight of the pistol approx with optic?

Not sure shout chambering yet. Weight doesn’t really matter much either. I saw an xp100 listed on gb in 30br in 1-10.5 twist with a McMillan stock.

That's a pretty fast twist for a 30 BR
for competition you want to pretty closely match the twist for the weight class of bullet you will be running
I'd be sketchy on that one
looks like it was setup for Heavies above 150 grn
which in a pistol with a short barrel, would be rather slow if using heavy bullets
compared to using something in the range of 112's

Info what others are running for that cartridge 1:15-1:18 tw

Another thing to consider with that fast twist 30 BR is barrel torque
Here is a post comparing 14 and 17 twist (Post # 51)
"My first two 30 BR barrels years ago were 14 twist and I can tell you emphatically I can sure tell the difference in impulse and bag torquing between the two. 17 twist works in my climate well when I do my part."

I figured that after doing some reading on 30br. My main goal is get something decent and get a feel for shooting handgun then a possible rebarrel.
I think the gun seems like a decent deal, just wanted some input.

For competition? Plenty of comps will tell you that you cant shoot with a pistol. Ive had the issue numerous places, even at a club level.

Radial brakes aren't as effective as a side discharge, but some competitions dont allow side ports. Lots of people do build on xp-100's but there are plenty that use a 700 footprint action. Plenty of custom 700 foot print actions these days. Im sure youre aware that you cant start with a rifle and go shorter than 26" OAL, or 16" barrel without a stamp for SBR.

For mid range I would want more than a 30BR regardless of the bullet you shoot. 6mm will do really good things. BR, BRAI, dasher, and gt will all do well. I shot a 6 dasher in midrange for a while. Did well enough that guys would ask what class I was in so they could shoot the other class, just to not get beat by a pistol.

The gun that peaked my interest has a 30br barrel yet it could be rebarreled to a 6br or variant. Currently has a side brake, I know the club I’ve went and shot at says radial brakes only.
I would like to get one to mess around with to see if I’d like to go further down the rabbit hole, kinda how I’ve started with regular br rifles.

Aaron/rickiesrevenge is a good person to talk to if you are considering going the pistol BR route

Thanks, he was helpful. Getting into Benchrest has been the costliest endeavor. Especially since I like the unusual. I would have to install a different brake or rebarrel to do a local shoot but I figure it would be something fun to play with. Plus 30br has always interested me, if I get my butt in gear I could rebarrel it myself (I need to get a barrel vise and action wrenches since I got a Bat M and it came with another barrel).
