BR Brass

I have a bunch of new brass headstamped RP BR, im sure its the discontinued Rem Brass for benchrest with the small primer pocket in 308 winchester, any suggestions on loading it- I currently use 43 gr 4064 with 168 sierra match-I am using a Sig target rifle that seem to shoot most loades very well

With the small primer and flash hole It would be a good idea to use hot primers like Remington 7 1/2. In cold weather if using standard primers you may excperience hang fires.

Oh yeah one more thing. That brass you have was never intended to be used full length in the 308. It was made available to form wildcat cartridges and also cases for the 22, 6, and 7BR. There are guys still looking for that brass and I sold all of mine. I would sell it off and buy the best brass out there for the 308. Lapua!

the original small pocket br 308 cases were made in the mid to late 70's as Jim Steckel and Mike Walker were experimenting with shortened 308 cases in benchrest and hunter class, the first test was with 300 save length then further shortening to the current case.
the result was what we have now in the br case, the 7mm 6.5, 6mm and 22br. as Jim shorteded the 308 case down then necked it first to 308 then to 7mm
the 7br became a factory offering in the xp for silhouete and in some 40x's

the rest is history as the 7br and 30br cases (both the current length) became the std. with small primers and necking down to various calibers.

Thanks a bunch for the input-any suggestions on selling the brass. I have about 300 new unfired-unresized cases, excuse the ignorance, I'm new to the precision shooting world

believe it or not the original 308 cases with the small primer were of very high quality as they were a special run for the test done in the custome shop at Ilion, ny

Rem URBR 308 Small Primer Pocket .080" flash hole brass-

With thousands & thousands & thousands of rounds fired to date, in temps ranging from 90 deg to -20 deg F,
I have yet to have a single ignition problem running the Rem URBR brass in 308 Win, 7.62x51 NATO,260 Rem,6.5-08,243 Win & 22-250 chamberings.

I have with 205ms. Necks tend to be thin you may need a bushing die to get proper neck tension
