BR 68ish grain boat tails

Would like to hear from anyone that messed with the light boat tails in a 1-14 barrel in a 6br.

I know the 68BTs were a hot item years back in the benchrest PPC world but seem to have lost their luster. Just wondering if anyone got them to shoot well in a BR and if so did they notice any detectable difference in longer ranges (250-500) with them in regards to resisting the wind better.

thanks

I have two 1-14 6BRs, Lilja and Atkinson barrels. Using 8028 & N135, BTs were less accurate than the FBs out to 300m.

i have been shooting the 65gr V-Max for over 10 years in the 6BR 14 twist.. and really would put that bullet close to any custom bullet you can shoot, I have shot them in a score match.. i think 246-11x or something like that.
have shot groundhog's out to 650-700 yards or more with them.. have shot 5 shot groups at 300yrd's in the .5 to .750's with them...I have also shot a ton of custom bullets in the 6BR's 14 twist..one of my favorite bullets has to be the 66 Fowler FB..i have shot a bunch of group's in the .100's with them..I just burned up 500 68 gr precision ballistics's Boat tail's in my 6BR..they shot OK i really never got them to shoot like the 66 Fowler bullets have shot for me but they shot low.200's.. seemed i just never found the sweet spot on them..you just have to give them a try and see if your barrel like them or not..I really don't think there are any bad bullets out there any more..most custom or semi custom bullets are good just have to try and see if your barrel like them or not. i really don't think the boat tail means too much out to 500 yards or so..it's more a mental thing than any thing else..if the boat tail gives you more confidence out there then shoot the boat tail.. some barrel's will shoot a boat tail better than a flat base and some shoot a flat base better.

I have a partner that shoots the 68gr Precision ballistics HPBT bullets in his 14twist 6br. He's got plenty of wood to prove they shoot well. I shoot them in my Factory 6ppc out to 400yds and they definately make a difference to the good beyond 200yds. Frankly, they shoot as well as any flat base bullet that I've tried at 100yds. WD

246-11x would put you about dead last in any of the score matches I have been to.....

well next to last..but i dont feel it was the bullets fault..the 65 v-max has allways been a good mid .200 to mid .300 5 shot group bullet..

not saying they are not, just did not shoot as well in my barrel as the 66 Fowler did.. but they did shoot low to mid .200's and that is good...but i have been able to get that 66 Fowler to shoot better in that barrel..

70 GR Sierra HPBT shoot nice small round groups in my 6BR GH hunting rifle. I like the way the BT seat. They go in easier which makes me think I am not distorting the neck shape. I don't check run out.
