Boyd's stocks

I am sorry for your issue.
I bought a couple of stocks, not Boyds, from a gent that had the same issue you did.
He did not bed them. He cranked the action screws down and ripped out the holes and plastic inserts. They are no pillars.
I will agree that you should not have had any issues.
I drilled out the two I bought. Turned some pillars, some epoxy and bedding I am done.

I think it kind of silly to dig up 2-3 year old threads with Boyds in the title in order vent your frustration.
A thread with the whole ordeal would have gleaned more interest and response.

I would be happy to make you some brass or aluminum pillars if it would help you.
Jeff

I am sorry to hear this...while I have personally had pretty good luck with Boyd's, I lied about not having had any issues. Mine was kind of similar, but I fixed it myself. I almost forgot this even took place. I bought a stock for a Ruger American and it had a plastic latch for the magazine catch to engage. It worked, but it was retained by one of the action screws and when I tried to tighten the action screw I didn't get it very tight before it split and smashed away not allowing the action screw to ever get even close to being tight.
Rather than send it back for another piece of plastic I made one out of aluminum. It works fine and I am happy with the stock. If I had sent it back and they did me like they did the OP I would have probably been upset too.
It is disappointing that a manufacturer doesn't know better than to try and make these kinds of parts out of soft plastic. It seems like they are one of those outfits that does a heck of a lot of business and just cant bring themselves to admit they are wrong and need to fix something. I feel like in doing the repair myself I have added to the problem...they don't have a clue.

Same problem with my stock also for ruger American. I was able to find a washer to fit inside outside diameters. No problems
5 minute fix.

I've bought two stocks from Boyds. The first was a thumbhole varmint. It worked well enough. I liked it.

The second was an At-One. I didn't like it. I didn't like it *a lot*. The cheek piece didn't adjust up very high, and the whole adjustment mechanism didn't seem very solid.

In both cases the ordering, shipping and receipt of the product went really really well. No issues. It happened quickly. I was really happy.

I decided to return the At-One (and pay the restocking fee). They said put the RMA on the outside of the box. I did - and they refused the UPS shipment. The RMA was on the shipping label. But that wasn't good enough for them. I needed to put the RMA in BIG BOLD letters on every face of the box. Gee - receiving can't look closely enough to see it on the label?

Customer service was kind enough to send me a pre-paid shipping label because their shipping department missed the RMA #. The whole thing was just a PITA.

I've heard many stories about their customer service, in general, as not being very good.
