Boyd Allen

I wish you all could see the big smile on my face after reading all of your good wishes and feel the warmth that radiates from them. There is nothing seriously wrong, but my feet, especially my left one, have been swelling enough for the last few months that it was impairing my concentration when doing longer projects like the detailed match reports that I have done for the IBS page at AccurateShooter.com. Phone conversations, or posts and PMs are not the issue, because they do not require the sustained effort or concentration. Bottom line, as far as forum postings go, I will still be around, enjoying the conversations.

On the feet, for a long time I have read about research having to do with a large number of supplements and so naturally when my feet started bothering me I begin trying various things that I have sitting around, to see if I could see any improvement. I soon figured out that salt restriction is helpful. The effect is so immediate, that I really do not need much discipline to remember to avoid it. If I forget, I am reminded almost immediately. Luckily, my wife is a wonderful cook and she has made the needed adjustments.
Beyond that, one of the latest developments has come from rummaging through my stash of supplements and doing a little review. It seems that taking a good amount (1 g. 4x/day) of flush free niacin actually gives significant relief. As you can imagine, this has been a welcome development. Another thing that has perked me up a bit is some spray B12. As we age, there is a tendency toward deficiency and tablets tend to be less well absorbed, so absorbing the spray in the lining of my mouth turns out to be a pretty good method, probably similar to sublingual (dissolved under the tongue) tablets which I also have, but tend to forget to take. Bottom line, this recent improvement has me thinking about moving around more, which is exactly what I need to do. I am blessed in so many ways. This is just a bump in the road that I see continuing for quite a distance in front of me. Take good care of your selves.

Boyd,

Getting old isn't for sissies!

Boyd sent me a PM with advice on how to set up my rifle and rest on the bench to reduce some vertical stringing I was fighting.

Just those tips alone gave me the consistency to isolate me from the variables so I could get meaningful results from my load development.

Boyd, you probably don’t know how invaluable that advice was to me, but I very much appreciate it.

Hope all improves soon Boyd. I enjoy your mentoring and also our frequent chats. This getting old though is not for the meek!

Bob
